Kick it!

Right off the Top: Saying there is a terrorist threat in Kabul, is like saying the Cleveland Browns will find a way to lose a football game.

I haven’t seen a team as cursed as the Browns since Bob Golic showed up at an El Monte practice in 2004 when the Lions were 4-0. EM finished that season 4-6.

***

Last Add Browns: The best quarterback for the St. Louis/Los Angeles Rams was playing for Cleveland in the fourth quarter last night against the Baltimore Ravens.

***

First Add Rams: The moment Nick Foles decided to wear number five (as an homage to Dieter Brock), I knew he kid was in trouble.

***

I have my ups and downs when it comes to prognostication, but I will say if you’re thinking Charter Oak is going to roll in the Central finals against San Marino…think again.

The Titans are more than just Carson Glazier and 106 touchdown passes in 37 career varsity games. They are a good, smart, football team. HC Mike Hobbie is the Sean Connery of local coaches…Connery gets older and cooler…Hobbie gets older and smarter…

Four years ago this morning I came out of my house and saw the devastation Godzilla wrought in Temple City. Actually it was a windstorm, bad enough to cause that night’s semifinal game between San Dimas & San Gabriel to be postponed until Saturday. Reading the comments on our message boards that day, Saints’ fans didn’t blame Godzilla but then SG HC Jude Oliva for pulling a fast one.

Last I checked only Jesus could command the wind and water…so it must have been a promotion for Oliva. I doubt it came with a pay increase.

I’m angry with the Dodgers these days but is getting rid of Howie Kendrick the right move? This is a Guggenheim bank-rolled team, so don’t hit me with the “it saves money” argument.

I get where Corey Seager over Jimmy Rollins gives them a better chance at winning next season, but is there a second baseman, currently in the system, who gives them a better chance than Kendrick?

Is Jose Peraza the answer? It’s interesting if he is because the Dodgers are supposedly going the whole sabermetric route, but Peraza has little patience at the plate. Meaning, he doesn’t walk.

When it comes to Survivor this season…Anybody but Wentworth!

***

I’m as excited about the new Star Wars movie as I am about seeing Nick Foles or Case Keenum at quarterback for the Rams this week.

***
Midbits: When I see Kobe Bryant, I see the greatness of Jerry West.

Midbits: Yes, La Serna is playing in its fourth CIF final in five years but they’ve been to six consecutive semifinals with four different quarterbacks (Andrew Buenrostro, Frankie Palmer, Evan Pacheco, & Jonathan Ceballos). Great program.

Midbits: Former San Gabriel standout/La Verne alum Andres Fernandez turns 22 today.

Midbits: As of today I’ve heard “Have A Holly Jolly Christmas” by Burl Ives six times.

Midbits: Jeff Samardzija…breakout MLB pitcher in 2016?
The Dude abides…
