1. The AFC and NFC Championship games are set with New England traveling to Denver and Arizona heading east to Carolina.

2. The Miami Marlins sign Dee Gordon to a five-year, $50 million contract.

3. Oklahoma (15-1) gets all 65 first place votes and are the number one team in college basketball for the first time since the last two weeks of the 1989-90 season.

4. Philadelphia Eagles officially announce Doug Pederson as their new head coach. Pederson started at quarterback for the Eagles in 1999 going 2-7.

5. The Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Dallas Cowboys 21-17 to win Super Bow X on this day in 1976.

6. The Detroit Pistons retire 4-time Defensive Player of the Year Ben Wallace’s #3 jersey.

7. Northview’s Paul Cooper is leading the Valle Vista League in scoring at 18.2 ppg.

8. On this day in 1963 Al Davis becomes the head coach and general manager of the Oakland Raiders.
