Lancers Cage Tigers

(La Salle) – La Salle’s trip along the Camino Real continued smoothly as the host Lancers won their eighth straight with a 68-35 throttling of Bosco Tech Friday night. La Salle remained perfect in league at 6-0 with the win and improved to 15-9 overall. Bosco Tech dropped to 4-17 on the year and 0-6 in league.

  The Lancers out rebounded the Tigers 45-20 with 23 second chance opportunities. Three players had 10 or more boards.

  Josh Anderson and Matt Nolan set the tone in the paint as La Salle raced to a 24-8 lead in the first quarter before the advantage ballooned to 43-13 at halftime. The Lancers led by over 40 midway through the third to usher in a running clock.

  Anderson scored 12 and Nolan added another 9 in the first quarter to account for 21 of the team’s 24 points. Nolan hit a turn around left hander with two seconds left in the quarter resulting in a 3 point play.

  Anderson finished in game high categories of 20 points and 11 rebounds with a rejection. Nolan added 15 to go along with 10 boards and two blocks and Gary Mkritchyan came off the bench to rip down another 10 off the glass. Ryan Akinbayode sunk two threes and went 6 of 8 from the floor for 14 points, and Michael Edwards helped keep the Lancers’ offense running with five assists.

  Jason Marquez led Bosco Tech with 9 points and 8 rebounds. Jeff Miranda and Ernesto Anguiano tabbed 5 apiece, and Elijah Yanit recorded an assist, block, and three steals.
