1. The Cleveland Indians beat the Toronto Blue Jays 3-0 Wednesday to win the ALCS in five games and advance to the World Series.

2. The LA Kings and the Anaheim Ducks are a combined 0-6-1 to start the season.

3. Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger will miss this Sunday’s game against New England with a knee injury and be replaced by Landry Jones.

4. The Chicago Cubs beat the Dodgers 10-2 Wednesday night to even the NLCS at two games each.

5. According to the Orange County Register the LA KISS of the Arena Football League has disbanded after three seasons. The Orlando Predators and the Portland Steel recently folded and Jacksonville and Arizona left for the Indoor Football League. There also was a dispersal draft recently by the AFL in which KISS players were included. The KISS however have not made an official announcement.

6. Covina’s win over Baldwin Park last Friday will stand despite a brawl at the end of the second quarter. The Colts however will have 12 players suspended for this week’s game against Wilson.

7. New York Knicks guard Derrick Rose was found not liable in a civil suit that accused him and two others of gang raping Rose’s ex-girlfriend when she was incapacitated from drugs and alcohol. An eight member jury made the ruling in Los Angeles federal court on Wednesday.

8. The Lakers open the regular season next Wednesday October 26 at Houston.

9. On this day in 1976 the New York Nets sold Julius Irving “Dr. J” to the Philadelphia 76ers.
