1.) Former Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Bell (1987 MVP) who turns 57 today.

3.) On this day in 1980 the Philadelphia Phillies won their first World Series.

4.) According to Pro Baseball Reference only two players in MLB history have had the first name “Addison”…One is currently a relief pitcher for the New York Mets…the other plays for the Chicago Cubs and has homered each of the last two nights in the NLCS.

5.) San Dimas and Northview have met 29 times in football. The Saints hold a 15-14 advantage.

7.) On November 26, 1976…San Dimas and Northview met for the first time. It was the second round of the 2A playoffs at Covina District Field. The Saints won, 26-19 and advanced to the third round of what was in 1976 a five-round playoff format.

8.) Tonight against South El Monte, El Monte HC, Eric MacIntyre (5-3) is looking for his sixth win of 2016. The last first year El Monte HC to win six games in a season was Bill Samarin in 1956. That year the Lions went 7-2 and missed the playoffs…As part of the old Pacific League they lost to Monrovia (26-6) and Mark Keppel in Week Nine (19-13)…
(Note: Joel Sanchez, Greg Vaniman, & Tim Campa all won five games in their first season as HC.)

9.) San Marino and Monrovia meet tonight…The first meeting between these schools took place during the second week of the 1957 season. The Wildcats won 6-0…The Titans were so devastated they went on to win CIF’s Northern Division championship. (26-13, over Pomona Catholic)

10.) Matt Barkley replaces Brian Hoyer at quarterback for the Chicago Bears in a 26-10 loss to Green Bay on Thursday night (10/20/2016).
