Titans Too Much For TC

Beau Hobbie found paydirt three times in the win over TC.

(San Marino) The San Marino Titans and the Temple City Rams hooked up in Rio Hondo League action Friday night. The Titans never trailed en route to a 49-19 win in front of  the large homecoming crowd.

The seats were barely warm when the Titans struck first. After being set up with first and ten at the Temple City 35 on a 64 yard kick off return by Beau Hobbie. Three plays later Blake Cabot scored on a six yard keeper and Aloisio Figuiera added the extra point for a 7-0 advantage with only 1:22 gone in the first quarter.

A few minutes later the Titans were on the board again when Cabot hit Sean Richardson for a 37 yard catch and run. Figuiera booted through the extra point for the 14-0 lead.

Blake Cabot was solid at the helm of the Titan offense.

The Rams got on the board and cut the lead in half with 1:02 left in the first quarter when Justin Bowman called his own number and got into the endzone on a seven yard run.

San Marino got a gift late in the second quarter when Bowman coughed the ball up on his own eight yard line. The Titans recovered and were in business deep in Ram territory. Three plays later Cabot got his second scoring pass on the night this time to Dereck Gerhardt. Figuiera missed the extra point but the Titans took a 20-7 lead into the locker room at intermission.

Justin Bowman had a pair of scores for the Rams.

Temple City was in the giving mood again early in the third quarter. Zachary Colores lost control of the ball at his own 38 and the Titans jumped on the loose ball. Five plays later Hoobie scored on a four yard scamper to help push the advantage to 20.

Isaiah Cassillas put a spark in the Ram sideline when he took the ensuing kickoff 99 yards to paydirt. The score however was called back on a holding penalty.

The Rams would not be denied the score as they went 48 yards on four plays. During the drive the Rams were faced with a 4th and eight at the San Marino 46. Head coach Riley Saxon decided to go for it and it paid off. Bowman found Cassillas deep over the middle for a 46 yard score.

San Marino stretched their lead to 41-13 on back to back six yard runs by Hobbie, one to close out the third period and the other early in the fourth. Hobbie finished the night gaining 119 yards on 22 carries with three TD’s.

TC got their final score of the evening with a tick under 10 minutes left in the final frame. Colores made up for his earlier miscue pounding the ball across the goaline from four yards away.

The Titans added a saftey and another late touchdown by Cabot to finalize the scoring on the evening. Cabot finished the game with 127 yards and two touchdowns on the ground and added another 101 yards and a TD through the air.

The Rams were led by Bowman’s 97 yards through the air and 23 yards on the ground with two TD’s.

Yup, I agree. And temple city should also have a good game against Monrovia and at la Cañada.

Temple City came out and played well the 1st half. The 2nd half I think San Marino wore them out. San Marino is a very well coached team that executes. They seem to have athletes all over the field and hard to key in on a particular player. I was impressed with the QB and RB from San Marino they are both tough runners. Should be a great game for them vs Monrovia. Temple City seems to be in good hands with Saxon at the helm.
