1. Former Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Tony Fernandez passed away from complications of kidney disease at the age of 57.

2. Tiger Woods shot a 6 over 77 at Riviera Sunday and finished last at the Genesis Invitational. Adam Scott won the tournament.

3. Team LeBron beat Team Giannis 157-155 in the NBA All-Star game Sunday night in Chicago. Kawhi Leonard won the Kobe Bryant MVP award.

4. The LA Wildcats of the XFL lost their home opener to the Dallas Renegades 25-18 Sunday to fall to 0-2 on the season.

5. The Washington Redskins released cornerback Josh Norman.

6. The Azusa Pacific Men’s basketball team has won 16 straight games after a 98-76 win over Dominican Saturday.

7. Bassett has reached the quarterfinals of the CIF Division 5AA playoffs. The Olympians will host Valley Torah Tuesday night.

8. USC and UCLA both won Saturday and are tied for 5th place at 8-5 in the Pac 12. Colorado, in 1st place, is 9-4.

9. Michael Jordan turns 57 today.

    My, my….Woods came out of the gate looking like gold, tapping-in the Kobe tribute putt, and now….he’s back in the dumps. I guess Tim’s Michael Jordan quote about “trying” came a day too late to get Woods going.
