- The Lakers named JJ Redick as their new head coach signing him to a four-year deal.
- The Detroit Pistons fired head coach Monty Williams after just one season. The Pistons still owe Williams $65 million.
- The St. Louis Cardinals beat the San Francisco Giants 6-5 Thursday night in a game played at Rickwood Field in Birmingham, Alabama which was home to the Birmingham Black Barons of the Negro League from 1920-1960. Willie Mays, the legendary Hall of Famer who passed away Tuesday at the age of 93, played for the Black Barons before signing with the New York Giants of the MLB in 1950.
- The New England Patriots signed running back Rhamondre Stevenson to a four-year, $36 million extension.
- The Chicago Bulls are trading Alex Caruso to the Oklahoma City Thunder for Josh Giddey.
- The Indiana Pacers signed center Pascal Siakam to a four-year, $189.5 million contract to stay with the team.
