(Norwalk) – Scripps Ranch took the long ride from San Diego and came up with a 29-12 victory over Norwalk Friday night at Norwalk High School.
The Falcons took the ball first but were forced to punt after the drive got halted midfield.
Norwalk took up eight minutes and 75-yards with their double wing offense and capped it off with a two-yard dive from Diego Cerritos.
Scripps Ranch answered with a big drive of their own taking only two minutes and taking an 8-6 lead after a Ryan Stadtherr seven-yard run and a successful two-point conversion.
The Lancers drove up the field again taking up 10 minutes and 70 yards but the Falcons stuffed them at the two-yard line with under a minute left in the half.
Norwalk grabbed the lead back on its opening drive of the second half with an Ezra Mueller six-yard run. The two-point conversion failed and the score stood at 12-8.
The Falcons took the lead right back when quarterback Parker Rhea hit Charlie Barajas on a slant making it 15-12.
The Lancers were forced to punt for the first time this season.
Scripps Ranch added to its lead when Stadtherr found paydirt again with a 10-yard run putting the score at 22-12.
Norwalk went to the air on the next drive but got intercepted by Jalen Shaw who would take it 90-yards to the house, putting the game out of reach.
Rex Theilacker was making plays all night for the Falcons.
Mueller ended the night for the Lancers with 176 yards on 25 carries and a score.
Norwalk has a bye week and will face Linfield Christian at home in two weeks. The Falcons will go back to San Diego to face La Jolla Country day.
