Strength of schedule. Strategic loss to Bishop Montgomery .
But this is why the current model is flawed ! If the league champ is placed in lower division than also-rans , you have to scratch your head .

70-10………. forfeit loss not sounding like a bad idea after that performance. Game should have started with a running clock. Shout out Andy George and his La Serna Lancers.

any idea of the ‘makeup” of EM’s staff? Very good history of winning over division 13 and 14 teams, but I agree EM staff is most likely much better than A’s! This is why EM is playing good ball in only two years

Are you Cal fans delusional? Playing one of the toughest schedules around? Are you for real? Maintaining low scores for ratings? Are you high? La Serna could have put 100 on Cal if they had played the starters in the 2nd half. Cal is not a very good team this year. They are giving up 54 points a game and have had 60+ put on them 3 times this year. There are freshmen and JV teams in the area that can beat Cal right now.

You do an awful lot of talking in these LS, ER threads, hasn’t ER running clocked BG the last decade? You are probably the last person who should be chiming in here.

All you theorists sounds so lame lol

LS had its backups to the backups in to start the second half. Bet none of you guys knew that the Cal HC denied a running clock at the start of the 3rd. Hell they didn’t throw the ball once and were able to score at will.

A LOT of things have to come together and go right to win it all so to reduce it down to these corny theories is absolutely bonkers.

OHB. Not sure how the score got so high? ER had the same 2nd half lead as LS but scored 1 TD in the 2nd half against Cal. A good high school coach does not seek to humiliate the other team and its fans. As for your claim LS takes its foot of the gas there is no evidence of that. Rating wise Cal has played one of the toughest schedules around playing teams 30 rating points higher than themselves while La Serna schedule though tough has been the favored team at the time in every game. No doubt Cal has been banged up not able to rest anybody while La Serna gets to rest their team for more than a month. Really an advantage come playoff time. I too would like to hear from some one at the game.

I will agree they scored points and passed the ball well. But the decision to go for it on 4th down ALWAYS and onside kick it ALWAYS is terrible coaching. You’re cutting the field in half and not giving yourself a chance to get good field position. The Knights were out coached and out prepared for last night plan and simple. The Lions prep and planning won them that game. The teams were evenly matched.

As far as Booing, it was towards the decision to onside kick it more than anything. They did it EVERY kickoff. Then when they needed the ball the last two min he elects to kick it deep. Again, coach has to live with those decisions not the players.

Love to see this great coach Andy George coach local kids up. The type the other Del Rio teams put in the field. Not the area All-Star squads he typically has to coach up. Seems like Pioneer and Santa Fe players are slowly buying into playing for their home schools. Now if Whittier and Cal can keep their kids, I highly doubt that Friendly Hills produces enough talent on their own to compete.
Then you would see how dominant the “Kingdom” actually is!

I have to disagree. Arroyo has actually been doing good this season and better than I expected honestly. Last night was a bad game. They have some work to do for the rest of the season but booing at a home game is just nasty. We have to do better as parents.

605 is now mid type league , compared to most SGV . I’m sorry Titan fans , but you will occasionally play a decent team . Feasting on the dregs of D14 goes only so far , and really gives defense little preparation for offenses that have multiple quality skill players .
The game vs Artesia is now everything , but feeling less optimistic and concerned about Pioneer contentment culture taking hold at end of season.

I’m not sure about how the score got so high or if the coach is classy or not. What I can tell is that people come on here to accuse La Serna of easing off the gas to land themselves in Creampuff divisions. And now you are complaining because they beat Cal 70-14. Sounds like he’s never gonna make any of you haters happy. So they might as well stay on the gas when they can. I hope someone gets on here that was at the game and shares if La Serna was playing their starters the whole game or if they had their second and third team guys in there and when they got in.

I just looked at Cal’s record and their scores, SHEESH!!! I don’t recall Whittier or Pioneer ever being this bad. Maybe they should switch spots with Pioneer. I also looked at La Serna’s record and scores. With the exception of two games in their entire season, they’ve remained fairly competitive against teams out of their league. Looks like they played Schurr to a 21-3 win. I’m curious to see in two weeks how my Alma Mater does against Schurr for a possible league title.

EM had no lie 2 penalties the entire game and they were encroachment penalties. Not a single hold call. Not an excuse at all. The EM staff simply planned and executed while the Arroyo staff had zero answers. El Monte had answers for Arroyos run game but no answer for the pass. #3 on Arroyo is a beast.

Hold your heads up Arroyo seasons not over Mountain View and South left to play. Coach better prepare for those games or it will be ugly

Arroyo got OUT COACHED. This loss is on the coaches. They looked like they had a week of zero preparation. Multiple drives EM took 5 plays or less to score. Stop onside kicking it and cutting your field in Half. This program has a standard and these coaches ain’t it.

This Team needs coaches that will lead and check their ego. This HC isn’t the one to lead. I feel bad for the boys, they played hard but the coaches let them down by being unprepared.

Anyone see El Monte absolutely run through Arroyo? That was the demise of the arroyo program. Not to mention home fans booing arroyo, I think the time has come for the coaches to go finally. Anyone else see the two arroyo guys fighting each other on the sideline? Absolute implosion at arroyo, No discipline on and off the field both players and coaches. Moyé is absolutely gone at the end of the season as he should be, home fans agreed tonight as well, knight fans have had enough of the failed Moyé experience.

La Serna has, since the advent of the new Calpreps playoff system, consistently managed its scores against vastly inferior teams to not exceed three touchdowns. These are games in which the Lancers could easily have won 65-0. Coach George would tell you he wants to go easy on these overmatched opponents out of respect, but since his tactic results in getting a more favorable playoff situation, his motive must be questioned.

Far from hating the man for this approach, I have to tell you I would do the same in his shoes. It’s the same strategy of rich guys figuring their taxes to where they pay almost nothing. It’s smart. I simply urge this site’s readers to not be fooled by La Serna’s scheming, and to regard their playoff achievements with the appropriate skepticism.

Two Items……and who is your team? What division have they been in for postseason? Creampuff Division?
People keep knocking this Coach Andy George guy and his La Serna team. It’s not like they’ve been dominating multiple championships like La Habra used to do when they were running the table in the same league and the same division every year. La Mirada did it. Mayfair did it. LB Poly did it. Upland has had their run.

It comes down to this, you either love them or hate them. Seems like you’re one of those haters.

On another subject, LETS GO BG LANCERS! Just two more weeks until the league finale against Schurr. Old school battle.

@ Tank, yes South Pas beat Monrovia, or should I say beat down Monrovia. SP only threw the ball 4 times the whole game. The Tigers have that duo set running the ball. They combined for something like 400+ yards rushing. Monrovia had no answers to stop them as the SP o-line was making big holes. Monrovia went mostly passing as the SP defense was able to stuff the run game for most of the night. SP QB did a great job of milking the play clock to the very last second on almost every snap. Keeping the ball out of the hands of Monrovia’s high octane offense was a big key to the W for SP. It would seem that the last game of the season between LC and SP will decide the Rio Hondo this year.

CO played a very sloppy game and had way too many penalties. They will not get away with a win, or even come close, next week against Bonita if they don’t clean it up and start faster. Gotta hand it to Colony. They played a good game.
I hope the CO player who was taken by ambulance is OK. Many injuries in this battle.

Pasadena , Monrovia and Los Altos heading the list as area’s most disappointing this year . Monrovia still alive for playoffs – their best shot might be to lose to La Canada and drift down to D11 where they can win on talent alone .
From T. Peterson: Pasadena hasn’t been disappointing at all. They were 0-10 last year and were blown out every game. To have 3 wins with still two games left this year is remarkable. They won’t beat Muir but they have a shot against Burroughs which would be their fourth win. That’s a big turn-around.

Glad to see D-Bar get on the positive side of things. Speaking of positive or negative, Muir needs to learn the La Serna method of easing off the gas once you’ve rolled-up 50 or more points. Do those Stangs really want to get spanked in the first round of the playoffs, or would they rather make the semis in a creampuff division? Watch the master Andy George and learn.
