  1. The Dodgers beat the New York Yankees 4-2 Saturday night to take a 2-0 lead in the World Series. 
  2. Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani partially dislocated his left shoulder sliding into second base in Game 2 but is expected to play in Game 3 Monday night in Yankee Stadium. 
  3. USC beat Rutgers 42-20 Friday night to improve to 4-4 on the season. 
  4. Jayden Daniels connected with Noah Brown in the end zone on a 52-yard Hail Mary touchdown pass with no time remaining to give the Washington Commanders an 18-15 win over the Chicago Bears Sunday. The Commanders improved to 6-2 on the season. 
  5. 15,804 fans saw The East LA Classic Friday night at SoFi Stadium between Garfield and Roosevelt. Last year’s game between Downey and Warren at SoFi drew a crowd of 18,815. 
  6. Whittier College has reinstated its Division 3 football program. The school had discontinued the football program in 2022.
  7. The Lakers are off to a 3-0 start after a 131-127 win over the Sacramento Kings Saturday night. 
  8. #1 Oregon (8-0) routed #20 Illinois 38-9 Saturday. 
  9. AP College Football Top 5: 1. Oregon 2. Georgia 3. Penn St. 4. Ohio St. 5. Miami. 
  10. Rice fired head football coach Mike Bloomgren after a 2-6 start. Bloomgren was in his seventh season with the Owls.
