  1. The Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 8-2 Sunday but lost two out of three in the series. They are tied with San Diego in the NL West.
  2. The Rams lost to the Cleveland Browns 19-17 Saturday in the final preseason game.
  3. The Chargers lost to the San Francisco 49ers 30-23 Saturday in their last preseason game.
  4. Rio Hondo Prep running back Noah Penunuri suffered bruised ribs Friday night in the 20-9 win over Schurr. Nothing is broken and he is week to week according to head coach Mark Carson
  5. Bishop Amat running back Ryan Salcedo ran for 220 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-14 win over St. Paul Friday night.
  6. Iowa St. beat Kansas St. 24-21 Saturday in Dublin, Ireland to kick off the College Football season.
  7. The Minnesota Vikings signed quarterback Carson Wentz and traded backup quarterback Sam Howell to the Philadelphia Eagles.
  8. Cal Raleigh of the Seattle Mariners hit two home runs Sunday to give him 49 on the season which is a single season record for catchers. He passes Salvador Perez’s record with the Kansas City Royals in 2021.
  9. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers waived rookie safety Shilo Sanders Sunday.
  10. The Las Vegas Raiders backup quarterback Aidan O’Connell fractured his wrist Saturday night in a preseason loss to the Arizona Cardinals and is expected to miss 6 to 8 weeks.
