Congrats to Coach Andy George for his 100th victory at La Serna. The program that wins the right way. Courage, Character, & Commitment!
If La Serna wins their last 2 league games vs Cal & Whittier, they will wrap up an 8th straight DRL title and 13th of the last 16 years.
La Serna could also set the All-Time Del Rio/Whitmont League record with 35 consecutive league games won, as LS has currently won 33 straight.
@LSJuggernaut
No one believes your propaganda. There is literally zero character on the team and it starts at the top. Tell your buddy George that he needs to stop looking the other way when it comes to discipline and accountability, because those players are obviously allowed to do whatever they want with no consequences.
Btw, LS offensively is the worst it has been since 2017 and couldn’t put up any points in the 3rd quarter; barely scored despite getting 6 TURNOVERS. Do you honestly believe your own words or are you just too far gone from reality? Whatever happened between last year and this season is pretty telling. I would be shocked if LS made it past the quarterfinals lol I’m sure you’ll keep us all posted.
You think beating anyone in league for this long is somehow an accomplishment now? Maybe in the 2010s when LS was turning it around, but it’s been time to move on. Really looking forward to LS being a doormat for Downey and others in the foreseeable future.
The La Serna program really is classless and the whole idea of “Courage Character Commitment” died a while ago under the “leadership” of Coach George. What kind of HC allows his players to overtly celebrate in the end zone, get a personal fowl, celebrate it by posting the image of on IG, and not give any consequences? That happened vs Schurr and that same energy was brought back in the El Rancho game as an LS player literally humped an El Rancho player on the field.
Keep that same energy when you’re playing Downey next year. HC should be ashamed but his ego won’t allow it. Good on Medrano on defending his players and having real display of Character as opposed to the posers on the Hill.
@Don What did the La Serna player do ? I really don’t know what happened
We can lose 100 games in a row 100-0 to La Serna, that still won’t change the low class act by the La Serna player. “Lack of Character Courage and Commitment”
@LS Juggernaut,
You just proved my point. Your class is on full display when it’s a blowout. but the one time the game gets close, you act with no class. Stop excusing what that player did. If my son would do something like that I wouldn’t let him play football anymore and even if I did I’m pretty sure his coaches would suspend him from the next game.
Memo to the El Rancho Smurfs:
Good sportsmanship and class is what La Serna football is about. Since you are unable to comprehend this, I’ll spell it out for you.
The last 14 games La Serna has played against ER, La Serna has averaged over 30 pts IN just THE 1ST HALF.
But only once, did LS go on to score 60+ pts in any of the 14g vs ER and that was a 67-33 game.
Point is, every year LS could’ve hung 60, 70 and a few years even 80 or 90 pts on ER if they wanted to (A couple yrs it was 42-0 at half), but La Serna never ran up the score always holding down their score to between 42-53.total pts.
You should be thankful that La Serna is a class program and has displayed great sportsmanship year after year. I lot of other schools wouldn’t have been so nice.
#TheRightWay
What exactly did La Serna players do? Please use descriptors that won’t get deleted.
They would get trump to send in the national guard.
@ Cry Baby,
An LS fan calling anyone a cry baby is funny. Can you imagine what the outcry would be from the LS parents if one of their players was DELETED at the end of a play???
What uniform policy are you talking about? Knowing how to win or lose with class is not difficult, you should teach your players not to DELETED after a play is over.
Anyone know how San Gaybriel did this last week?
La Serna = yawn
ER — if it’s not complaints about the kids following the uniform policy, it’s complaints about their sportsmanship. Take your loss and don’t cry about it. ER looked like a strong team, just not strong enough. Then here come the parents and staff whining about sportsmanship and uniforms. Even your players handle it better than you adults do. WEAK
Best wishes to La Serna the rest of this season. It will interesting to see where they are in 24 months. Not predicting success or failure. Just interesting.
Burbank onside kick up by 40+???? That program has shown no class since the summer. Looks like the HC has given up control to the loud and trash talking assistants on his staff
Smells like Victory……
11 Straight W’s
Smells like Victory……like 11 in a row and
20 out of 22 vs El Rancho
Burbank beat Arcadia 55-13, not 55-3
From T. Peterson: Done
Try as you will the stink of the La Serna program will stick with you folks forever. No amount of all caps posts can change that fact.
If you knew anything you would know El Rancho will never play Alhambra or Mark Keppel you dodo bird. There’s no shame in losing to an all star team. You’ll know all about that in a year when Jack Williams comes to town.
A vastly inferior opponent? Geez, I really thought El Rancho showed improvement by not losing by 24 plus pts like every game this past decade and holding LS under 42 pts.
But maybe you’re right, that’s 20 losses in the last 22 games vs La Serna, so maybe it’s a good thing that El Rancho is running away from the new league and being put in a Div 15 League with Mark Keppel & Alhambra, etc,
so the Dons can actually complete.
What is funny is you coming on here and desperately trying to justify why you only managed to beat a vastly inferior team by 17 points and couldn’t put the game away until the mid 4th quarter, you kept trying to throw the ball late to try to make it look like a better win, but couldnt do it. simply a team of misfits. Thanks to the football gods Downey gets to put them in their place next season. I don’t want to take a moral victory out of this, ER very well had their chances in this game and needed to execute, not good enough, if that’s a D4 team goodbye in round 1.
Never seen anything like what an LS player did. It was despicable. I thought Medrano was gonna get ejected with how pissed he was after one of his players was sexually harassed during a football game. The parents of That kid from LS need to seek therapy for their son. LS staff should not let him play in the next game.
Let’s not underestimate what a great achievement this was for the El Rancho FB program. Congrats to them.
Although LS extended its winning streak against the Dons to 11 straight games, the 17 point loss by the Dons was closer than all 10
previous L’s which were all by 24 pts or more
The Avg score of La Serna’s decade of dominance over El Rancho is (LS 44-ER12) a 32 pt MOV, which ER nearly cut in half.
Also, except for 1 Covid year game when LS won 28-0, during La Serna’s last 12 wins against ER they have scored 42 pts or more every time, but were held to just 30 pts this
time.
Looks like El Rancho has put the decade plus long streak of losing by 24 + pts and giving up 42 + pts to La Serna every game to bed.
Congrats to El Rancho, lot to be proud of here Your program is rising to new heights after this epic battle.
@unacceptable ….. the schedule was too tough and sometimes a team with implode under that type of pressure and physical pounding . They may be bailed out by CIF playoff formulas which likely guarantees them a spot
And no handshake end of the Burbank-Arcadia rivalry match; rough to see. Really I call that a bitter and intense rivalry
La Serna ultimately prevailed because they are just too deep, but they certainly lack the “character” part of character courage and commitment with their fake tough guys.
What you neglect to say is that a couple of breaks going La Serna’s way would have resulted in an even bigger Lancer win. Football is a game of breaks, which requires you to play smart as well as physical. Easier said than done, but there it is.
The best team won, because with big breaks essentially cancelling themselves out, La Serna’s advantage in numbers, size and talent tipped the scale in their favor.
La Serna got 8 tuenovers with two of them on El Ranchos doorstep and all these turnovers resulted in 30 points? El Ramcho has one heck of a defense. BTW the measure of a good high school coach is the behavior and class the players show not always about wins and losses. Point Medrano.
One or two of the interceptions turned into completions and El Rancho might have turned this game completely around.
The first comment on this thread proudly picked Keppel to down Montebello. True to form, Keppel came through with the loss. The aztec’s football program is so far down, they have to reach up to tie their shoes. For the life of me, I can’t figure how this group hasn’t gone to the 8-man category, or else just disbanded. Hard to figure how a kid or his parents would see the value of participating in this operation.
Made the way out to watch ERHS take on LSHS, what an impressive facility at El Rancho, a great atmosphere a packed house on both sides, that standing room area is great for overflow from the crowd. La Serna where was your band? Right off the bat El Rancho fumbled the first snap and La Serna is spotted a 7-0 lead, a drive later it’s 14-0 and I’m thinking dang this was a waste of a trip. El Rancho does the unthinkable and punches back and gets on the scoreboard, the defense started to settle down and make plays, I’m vastly impressed by the size of the LS QB, probably going D1, but the ER defense kept coming at him and making him make some errant throws.
#10 for La Serna had a great game and probably the best guy on the team, seemed like he kept getting open for #1 all game. All of a sudden it’s 14-13 and late in the 2nd quarter and we’ve got a ball game. LS manages to push the lead to 23-13 going into the locker room. LS comes out in the 2nd half and the QB Long throws an interception, El Rancho tries to get its offense going but just can’t. Both teams trade multiple unsuccessful drives the entire 3Q. In the 4th quarter ER’s QB kept trying to force the ball a little bit and LS DB’s just kept picking him off. Midway through the 4th LS punches it in to go up 30-13 and basically iced the game. A very well contested hard fought game, impressed with #8 and #50 and #54 for El Rancho, great motor and relentless players. #10 and #2 for La Serna were the difference makers, non stop motor for both those players.
I picture La Serna being a D6 team, anything higher and it might be a tough playoff run, they could win D6 in my eyes. El Rancho is probably a D11-D10 level team, their defense could catapult them into another deep playoff run.
Gabrielino with a big win!!! Said it last week. Tongva Nation the surprise team of the Mid Valley!!! Guaranteed to finish in the top half of league and possible playoff birth. Congratulations 🎉 to Coach Gutierrez for changing the culture!!! Best of luck rest of the season.
Burbank kicking an onside kick up 41 in the first half against Arcadia? If people in the area didn’t hate that program enough as it is.
We are witnessing the complete implosion of St Paul football. I can’t imagine any athletic director being OK with this type of performance, which means if Moschetti doesn’t remove himself, he must be fired.
Salesian 91? I hope that’s a typo.
Another mercy rule running clock embarrassment for Rosemead ….are they going to bring back this staff again or finally acknowledge the mistake ( when it is too late )?
I was expecting this game to be a little more convincing win for La Serna. Living in the area and having friends whose kids and grandkids go there, I like to follow their success and cheer them on. (I hope I’m not “crowing” and offending anyone).
It is also disappointing to read that La Serna displayed poor sportsmanship last night against El Rancho.
Speaking of disappointing, what’s happened with the Swordsmen program? I know Cathedral is usually good but the Swordsmen were expecting to finally get to league play and grab a victory. Another local school I follow and hope do well. I don’t think they’ve ever lost 6 games in a year. These remaining league games might be a struggle.
@ Lp
What’s wrong with an alumnus being excited for his alma mater?
We have struggled during the Beltran and Johnston years. To win a few games and have some success feels good. If celebrating that bothers you, too bad!!!!
Now I will “crow” at you specifically, GTFOH
The Dons are gonna be a problem. Was thinking Medrano would do the little clock game he likes to do against the lancers but he decides to let his young qb grow up and face the problems. LS looked like they were too busy trying to show up the dons. Unfortunately a lot of bad sportsmanship from La serna.
@ Has Been 14-2 over Alhambra is nothing to crow about . You are not beating Schurr . Maybe you can make a run in D13
No moral victories but man did El Rancho battle. La Serna just has a bit more depth.
All the M-Town Alums are going to call for the coach to resign again. Three straight years losing to South Pas. This most likely kills any chance they have of winning the Rio Hondo and puts them on the edge of not getting a CIF auto qualifier bid since RHL only gets two auto spots.
With the BG victory and Schurr’s win, the Almont League title run is getting pretty exciting for the proud Lancer community!!
Keep up these boys going, Coach Rudy, Coach Chris and staff!
Prediction Keppel downs Montebello!
You heard it here 1st!
BTW Montebello sucks!
