  1. The Clippers lost to the Utah Jazz 129-108 Wednesday to open the 2025-’26 NBA season.
  2. Victor Wembanyama scored 40 points and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead the San Antonio Spurs to a 125-92 win over the Dallas Mavericks Wednesday night to open the NBA season.
  3. Portland Trail Blazer coach Chauncey Billups, Miami Heat guard Terry Rozier and former Cleveland Cavaliers player and assistant coach Damon Jones have been arrested as part of a pair of wide-ranging investigations related to illegal sports betting and rigged poker games backed by the Mafia, authorities announced Thursday according to ESPN.
  4. Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels will not play Monday night against the Kansas City Chiefs due to a hamstring strain.
  5. Cooper Flagg, the number one overall pick in the NBA draft, scored 10 points on 4 of 13 shooting and did not record an assist in his first game with Dallas. Flagg started at point guard.
  6. The Toronto Blue Jays will start Trey Yesavage in Game 1 of the World Series Friday against the Dodgers. Blake Snell will start for the Dodgers.
