
Temple City’s Mason Collins battles for a rebound.

(Temple City) – Temple City overcame an early nine-point deficit and ran past Arroyo in the second half to beat the Knights 57-47 Tuesday night on the Rams home floor.
The Rams were down by two at halftime but went on a quick 6-0 run to open the third quarter and maintained the lead the rest of the way. Temple City held Arroyo to just seven points in the third quarter outscoring them 13-7.

Arroyo’s Johnny Vargas led all scorers with 23 including five three-pointers.
Up by four heading into the fourth quarter Temple City went on a 9-2 run to start the quarter to extend the lead to 11 at 50-39. The Rams never looked back on their way to the 10-point victory. Brayden Kwan scored seven points in the final frame and Mason Collins had six.
Early on it was the Knights that had the hot hand. Johnny Vargas hit a three pointer and scored seven points in the first quarter and Jason Trieu hit two threes as Arroyo led 15-11 after the first quarter.
Vargas was red hot in the second quarter as he buried three shots from long distance. He scored nine of the Knights 15 points in the quarter as Arroyo was up 30-28 at the break. Temple City then made its move in the third quarter.
For Arroyo Vargas led all scorers with 23 points, including five from beyond the arc. He had 16 in the first half. But Arroyo had no other player in the double figures. Elias Juarez scored eight, Trieu finished with six and Louis Ventura scored four points inside. Elijah Gonzalez chipped in four as well.

For Temple City nine different players scored but only one was in double figures. Kwan led the team with 13, Collins scored eight and Jake Vasquez, Gavin Hang, Dylan Lam and Patrick Lam all added seven points.
Temple City improved to 4-1 with the win while Arroyo dropped to 2-2.
