3. Former LSU head football coach Jerry Stovall passed away at the age of 85 the school announced Monday. Stovall, who also played at LSU, was the SEC Player of the Year in 1962 and was second in Heisman Trophy voting to Terry Baker of Oregon State.
4. UCLA at California, Saturday 7:30 PM, ESPN.
5. Nogales running back Gatsbee Gumban has committed to Colorado School of Mines.
6. The Dallas Cowboys waived quarterback Joe Milton III. Sam Howell will be the backup to Dak Prescott.
7. Number one ranked Ohio State opens with Ball State Saturday at home at 9:30 AM PT.
8. The Baltimore Orioles claimed outfielder Luis Robert Jr. from the New York Mets on Monday.
9. Keppel snapped a 46-game losing streak with an 18-7 win over Mendez last Thursday night.
10. Former MLB centerfielder Garry Maddox turns 77 today. Maddox spent 14 years in the majors (1972-1986) including the last 11 years with the Philadelphia Phillies. He was on the Phillies World Series championship team in 1980.

Please note how playoff divisions are determined . Teams earn a composite power rating with equal weight given to each game during a season .
So if a team struggles in first 5 games , then gets transfers and improves immensely – well the composite rating is 50% on pre transfer team .Furthermore losing a game by one point is the same as losing by 15 for hsratings , so blowing a game with poor decision making further lowers your rating in significant way . Divisions are sliced entirely dependent upon these composite ratings ,
That’s how BP gets to D11
They have to out athlete you to win ; transfer JJ played much better level of competition last year . He should tilt the field
@FB Fan, Ask South Pasadena coaches and players about Valley View. They know them all too well. SP went out there in 2024 to play them in the D-10 quarterfinals and beat them. Then last year SP had to travel out there once again for the D-11 semi-finals. Valley View won in OT. But the game should have never went to OT as the tying score by Valley View was done on an illegal formation. Not to mention VV has this god awful red turn field to play on. It would have been nice to see an all San Gabriel Valley final.
CIF should have a policy in place regarding transfers and division placement. No way BP should be rated as low as they are. They are a D-7 and above type of athletic team.
Even worse is the team BP lost to in the D-11 finals. Valley view has a total of 8 VCR transfers currently playing and another 3 SOP players who will be on the team in a few more weeks. This is not the way the playoff system that was intended to be and no way those 2 teams should have been in D-11 last year.
Budget issues are easily definable and concrete ; when an organization wants to get rid of you , they often look for these types of issues to give airtight argument while the underlying reasons may be much different. There might be more to the story ….. he just made a great football hire
I laugh when I hear about universities having money problems, because a glance at tuitions these days makes it clear that these places are swimming in the green. Harvard, for example, has more administrators than students. So,with all the talk about belt-tightening in college sports, you can bet there is nowhere near that kind of urgency when it comes to the office-dwellers.
If there were any justice in this world, several dozen administrators would be getting canned along with Jarmond. That would solve the school’s athletic department money problem.
