The TEN

1.)—Yoshi Yamamoto went seven innings, struck out ten, and allowed one run on 98 pitches in leading the Los Angeles Dodgers to a 3-1 win over the AOBJtlanta Braves in the NLDS. Both Freddie Freeman and Kiki Hernandez homered for the Dodgers as they took a 2-1 series lead.

2.)—Philadelphia Eagles RT Lane Johnson announced his retirement on Tuesday. He ends a 14-season career spent entirely with the Eagles (drafted fourth overall in 2013), with six Pro Bowl selections, multiple All-Pro honors, and two Super Bowl wins (LII and LIX). He played in the first three games of 2026 before stepping away.

3.)—Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop/outfielder Mookie Betts turns 35 today. Betts has six years left on his contract, which expires at the end of the 2032 season.

4.)—The Minnesota Vikings sign WR Odell Beckham Jr.

5.)—On this date in 2005 South El Monte came back from a 21-0 deficit at Wilson to score a 48-42 victory. Southman quarterback, Lee Aguirre passed (258 yards) for three touchdowns and ran (195 yards) for three more, to account 453-yards of total offense. Joe Morales added 16 tackles for South, while the Wildcats were led by running back Daniel Bernal’s 135 rushing yards and three touchdowns (Including a 90-yard kick-off return).

6.)—The Los Angeles Rams have signed 2019 All-Pro linebacker Eric Kendricks to the practice squad, the team announced Tuesday. Kendricks was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2019. Kendricks was originally a second-pick of the Minnesota Vikings out of UCLA in 2015.

7.)—“I continue to read about Max preps being the leader of the process of rating the teams and what division each team and where the team will be placed for the playoffs? I suggest the CIF board is the group that will observe high school football teams and then place each into a division they think each team belongs? Of course the Woke ideology will be very much considered within there processing and judgement which teams belong in which divisions, Am I correct or am I incorrect on this focus? I can’t even come close to believing that CIF committee gave way to a group like Max Preps to be the people who ( and their computers) are governing playoff brackets and placing high school teams within divisions where they belong.”—MVS commenter, “Sports Man”
