Good Morning!
“It’s about time Joe did something right,” said South El Monte softball HC Dean Bunting to Andy Villathedevil at the Division 5 semifinals…Word has it, temporarily at least, I’m off The List.
Honestly, I’ve been on that list so long I don’t know what to do with myself…Maybe I’ll go to the San Dimas toss this evening…
Word out of San Dimas is they’re going to be okay.
“We’re gonna be okay,” Saints HC Bill Zernickow said. (He didn’t say that to me, but I sense it’s what he would say.)
Shaquille O’Neal retires. Is that news? I think everyone knew Shaq was retired the moment he went from Miami to Phoenix. The only ones that didn’t know he was retired were the people signing his paychecks in Boston, Cleveland, and the Valley of Sun…
I always thought Shaq was overrated…Never saw George Mikan play, but Wilt and Kareem were far superior at the center position than Shaq…
Glad to see Mike Gorball reinstated as the girls basketball coach at Arroyo last night…Of course we heard he would be back about a week ago… 🙂
I asked His Arroyo Baldness for his take on the Gorball situation and he told me he thought Ohio State should be punished more than USC was.
“People are always asking me if I want to go somewhere else,” says Gladstone HC Albert Sanchez as he enters his 13th season helming Gladiator football. “Where do I want to go? I went to school here, I was raised in Azusa. This is my community.”
Sanchez also likes his talent heading into 2011 and 2012. “Last year we played a lot of young guys, now we know what not to do.”
G-Stone opens Week One against Covina at Citrus College.
Speaking of the Family Stone I got to meet Aaron Sanchez yesterday.
“Oh he was great last year,” said Albert Sanchez. “But we moved him he played defensive end.”
No skin off my nose, but Aaron Sanchez nearly won our poll as the best linebacker in the Southeast & Mid-Valley Divisions (M-Town’s George Frazier beat him by four votes).
“I heard about the poll from my friends,” said Aaron Sanchez. “And they were talking about it, so I checked it out. It was my friends clicking on.”
Not without merit; In 2010 he recorded 62 tackles and 3 sacks lining up on the end of the line, in 2011 he’ll see action at middle linebacker and in the backfield.
“Everything is upbeat and good,” said Aaron Sanchez about the spring workouts. “Just hoping to be more aggressive this season.”
Note from Whittier Christian: Grant Escobar is looking better than he did last year…
The Dude abides…
