Villasenor Resigns at Nogales

Matt Villasenor has stepped down as the head coach at Nogales.

(La Puente) – Matt Villasenor has resigned as the head football coach at Nogales after two seasons he confirmed Wednesday. Fred Robledo of SGVN Sports is reporting that Villasenor will be named the head coach at Muir to replace Lance Mitchell who resigned to take the St. Francis head coaching job.

Last year Nogales won the Montview League with a record of 5-0 and went 7-4 overall. the Nobles lost to Bellflower 14-7 in the first round of the CIF Division 12 playoffs.

In 2024 Nogales went 6-5 overall and took second place in the Montview at 4-1. The Nobles fell to Arrowhead Christian 58-50 in the first round of the CIF Division 13 playoffs.

Nogales went 13-9 overall in Villasenor’s two years.

Nogales will begin the search for a new head coach immediately.
