George (G-5) Frazier and the Wildcats get a crack at Sierra Canyon
All games are at 7:00 pm unless otherwise indicated
Friday 11/23
San Dimas (11-1, Valle Vista #1) at Paraclete (11-1, Alpha #1) – Antelope Valley Collge
Before we talk about who’s going to win the game can somebody please answer me this? How does Paraclete get a third straight road game? Norm Dahlia must be living right or he gave somebody the look. A long drive up the 14 the day after Thanksgiving is never fun. Meanwhile Paraclete just walks out to its back yard and starts warming up. The truth is though it doesn’t matter. Home or away Paraclete has the edge on San Dimas.
Defensively the Spirits hit hard and offensively quarterback Tyler Carvalho makes things happen with his legs and his arm. The Spirits have a bevy of backs- Chris Campbell, Tylan McBride, Antoyne Hutcherson, and Franky Ramirez that can do some damage. We know San Dimas can run the ball as well with Jake Payton, Andrew Espinoza, and Denzell Mitchell among others but can the Saints get going against a team as physical and as hard nosed as Paraclete? The Spirits are just simply too tough. The Saints will hang around. With all their weapons that’s inevitable. But in the end the Spirits, like they did to Sierra Canyon, will wear them down. Paraclete advances to the finals.

Monrovia (10-2, Rio Hondo #1) at Sierra Canyon (11-1, Alpha #2) at Granada Hills High
Three weeks ago I thought this would be a game. But Sierra Canyon isn’t the same team that rolled to an undefeated season and a State championship last year. The Trailblazers couldn’t put Northview away and Arroyo had them on the ropes in the fourth quarter. Meanwhile Monrovia just keeps trucking along.
Some claim the Cats still haven’t played their best ball. That’s a little scary considering they have outscored their first two playoff opponents 93-6. Xavier Menifield is a solid back and Brian Tucker makes some big plays but if Monrovia shuts them down who does Sierra Canyon turn to? M-Town on the other hand has a number of guys to turn to. Mason Bryant, Anthony Craft, Brett Walsh, Gevontray Ainsworth, Blake Heyworth, Darione Jones, George Frazier, etc, etc, etc. Plus they have the best stats guy in the business in Wayne Tao. Wildcats get it done.
