(San Marino) — San Marino’s J.P. Shohfi tallied 194 all purpose yards and scored three touchdowns in the Titans, 49-14, win over Monrovia Friday night at San Marino High School.

The victory snapped the Wildcats 38 game Rio Hondo League winning streak.

San Marino went 80-yards in seven plays on its opening series and ended it with a 35-yard touchdown pass from Carson Glazier to Shohfi.

Monrovia tried to answer back with a scoring drive of its own but quarterback Asaph Zamora was picked off by the Titans Sean Sung, who returned it 38-yards for the score with 7:33 left in the first.

Late in the quarter Shohfi took the ball on a jet sweep and scored on an 8-yard run. After a Monrovia three and out on its next possession, Shohfi took the punt and returned it 72-yards to the house as time expired.

Early in the second, San Marino added another rushing score when Glazier faked the handoff and bootlegged left around the Wildcat defense from 8-yards out.

Before the half ended, Monrovia drove down to the San Marino14 but was stonewalled on a incomplete pass on fourth and long.

The Titans led 35-0 at the break.

After intermission the Wildcats rallied a bit. They put points on the board when Zamora scored on a sneak from a yard out. Then they forced San Marino to punt on its ensuing possession, but Aubrey Mosley muffed the ball and it was recovered by Titan’s Chaz Davis.

Three plays later Glazier hooked up with Akbar Mahmood for a 10-yard score.

Both teams traded late touchdowns in the final minutes of the fourth quarter.
