(El Monte) – Leiana Rodriguez threw six and two-thirds shutout innings to lead the Arroyo girls to a 5-0 win over South El Monte Wednesday to wrap up the Mission Valley League title.
Rodriguez allowed just five hits along the way, striking out 4 and walked none. The offense did the rest. Leah Limon tripled in a run in the first inning to get the Lady Knights started. In the sixth inning Arroyo added four more to wrap it up.
In the sixth, Karissa Blanco homered and Rodriguez and Leilani Martinez also had hits to drive in runs.
Jocelyn Lopez had two hits for South El Monte but the offense was never able to get going.
The Lady Knights will now get ready for playoffs.
