- The Seattle Mariners fired manager Scott Servais Thursday. The Mariners are currently 64-64, second place in the AL West and five games behind the Houston Astros.
- The Dodgers designated outfielder Jason Heyward for assignment Thursday to make room for Chris Taylor who is returning from the injured list.
- The Angels signed GM Perry Minasian to a two-year contract extension Thursday.
- The Rams will play the Houston Texans on the road Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the final preseason game. The Chargers are at Dallas at 1:00 p.m.
- Former Golden State Warriors player and coach Al Attles, who spent more than six decades with the organization and was the coach of the Warriors 1975 championship team, passed away at the age of 87.
- Former USC/ Seattle Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll will teach a class at USC this spring.
- The Atlanta Falcons signed cornerback A.J. Terrell to a four-year, $81 million extension.
- Kevin Glaspy, who was removed as Covina head football coach and Athletic Director last January and placed on administrative leave while the district opened an investigation into issues regarding the SGV Bowl All-Star game, has been reinstated and is now allowed to coach. He is back as an assistant coach under Joe Brown, who was named head coach.
- The Corona Centennial freshman beat Mater Dei 50-6 Wednesday. Mater Dei won the JV game 14-7.
@ RAMS FAN & Just the Facts: Chris Taylor needs to shorten his swing and make contact; he would be of better use to the Dodgers if he got on base more often and utilized his speed. And, yes, Taylor can play anywhere in the outfield as well as at second, third, or shortstop.
