Bednarski Drives South Pas Past Glendale

(South Pasadena)- With a 1:04 remaining South Pasadena quarterback Conor Bednarski went 28-yards to Matt Nelson for a touchdown to give the Tigers a 27-21 win over visiting Glendale.

South Pas jumped out in front 14-0 in the first quarter on a pair of touchdowns. First Patrick Martin scored on a 3-yard run and then Bednarski struck Nelson with a bullet for a 30-yard touchdown. Dominic Frescura added both points after.

In the second quarter the Tigers were looking for more but the Nitros’ Alejandro blocked Frescura’s attempt and returned it 70-yards to the end zone. Nick Villapando converted the extra point and the SP lead was cut in half, 14-7.

Glendale got closer in the third when Alex Manukian muscled his way in from 1-yard, but Villapando missed the PAT and South Pasadena still clung to a 14-13 advantage.

Six minutes later the Tigers’ Martin trotted in for a 5-yards score to incread the lead to 21-13.

With 7:42 left to play Nitros quarterback Alex Yoon salvaged a broken play and scored on an 81-yard run. Manukian converted the deuce and the game was tied at 21-21.

Glendale (0-3) was penalized five times for 55 yards, South Pasadena (3-0) eight times for 70 yards. The Ntros had no turnovers, the Tigers two.
