San Dimas Selfish With Points; Shuts Out Northview

"I'm Bill Zernickow, and I approve this message."

“I felt all week long that good things were going to happen, I felt the kids had a renewed sense of enthusiasm,” said Coach Bill Zernickow after San Dimas’ victory over Northview Friday Night, 43-0.

The night began with the San Dimas announcer letting everyone know the scoreboard was out of order. This was the only good sign for the Vikings as their scoring woes were only shown on the field.

The Saints scored early in the first with a deep 52-yard pass from quarterback Codee Watts to the six-foot-four senior receiver Kevin Kolbeck for a touchdown.

The Vikings looked to erase their previous turnover, that set up SD’s score, as they started moving the ball down field behind quarterback Raymond Hernandez and running back Marquis Thomas.

Hernandez looking downfield for a big play forced the ball into the Saint defense and is intercepted by cornerback Davante Brown. San Dimas added to its lead after the pick when Jordan Taylor scored a long 54-yard touchdown run to start the second quarter.

Following another Saints takeaway, Watts connected with Kolbeck for another touchdown strike this time from 75-yards out making the score 20-0 after a blocked point after.

The ensuing Viking possession lasted only three plays, ending with Hernandez being sacked in the end zone by Dillon Corona for a safety.

Taking advantage of the safety and possession San Dimas’ Watts scampered into the end zone for a 25-yard touchdown run.

With just a little over four minutes left in the half Northview looked to gain some momentum before the break. Hernandez drove his team down into Saint territory only to have SD’s Taylor intercept his last second heave and run it back for a 76-yard touchdown.

The second half was more of the same as the Saints added their final touchdown with a Damarquis Lawson run from 28-yards out.

“Our mindset was to play clean, we haven’t played clean all year long and now we did,” emphasizes coach Zernickow.
