Crusaders Run Rosemead Outta CIF

(Glendale) Village Christian quarterback Kyle Custer led his team with three total touchdowns as the Crusaders ran and passed their way to a 34-0 victory over the Panthers on Friday night.

VC was able to score on its first drive marching the ball 80-yards down the field capping it off with a 38-yard touchdown run by Amjed Aboul-hosn.

Mead took the ball and began a drive of their own moving it from the 35 down to the Crusader 26-yard line. On a fourth down and four Panther quarterback Paul Cruz’s ball fell incomplete and the ball went back to Village Christian.

On VC’s drive following the Panther turnover on downs it scored on a 41-yard touchdown run by Custer.

Rosemead took the ball and began its drive at the nine held on to it for 8:54. Mead running back Matt Eddy ran the ball to the left and fumbled the ball as he was tackled by a host of Crusaders near the first down marker, a Crusader defender recovered the ball and possession went back to Village Christian.

Starting at the eight-yard line the Crusaders moved the ball down the field on the ground and through the air. From the 25-yard line Custer hit Tyler McGinniss in the corner of the end zone.

Rosemead opened up the second half with the ball and drove for 8:27 from its 29 to the VC 21 yard line. On a fourth and eight Cruz threw the ball to the open man, the ball clanked off his hands, giving the ball up in the red zone again and ending the Panthers final threatening drive.

The Crusaders were able to tack on two more rushing scores for good measure. One of the scores came from Custer from 17-yards out, the other from Aboul-hosn from 33-yards out.

Village Christian will move on to play Whittier Christian back at Glendale High School next Friday night in a Mid-Valley Division Semifinal match-up.
