TC Takes Lions at Azusa

Rams get instruction from Coach Rich Hollinger. Jordan Hill (15 points) is in the middle

(Azusa) – Jordan Hill scored 15 points including 10 in the first quarter to lead Temple City to a 71-42 win over El Monte at the Azusa Tournament Wednesday.

The Rams ran out to a 16-5 lead in the first as Hill sank four of four from the free throw line and hit a pair of baskets. Tim Sanderson added two buckets underneath and scored six in the contest.

Temple City opened up a 20 point bulge by halftime as Ryan Cosato got into the act with seven points in the second and Hill and Matt Der both hit from three point land.

Leo Olvera tried to keep the Lions close with eight points of his own in the second but El Monte managed just 12 in the quarter while the Rams ran off 22.

El Monte’s offensive woes continued in the third. Olvera scored four but the only other points in the quarter for the Lions was a pair of free throws by Jesse Gayton.

Temple City ran up 21 more in the fourth to put it away. Wayne Wu, who scored just three points through the first three frames, tossed in eight in the fourth while Cosato hit another three.

Casey Lopez and Olvera each scored six in the final period for El Monte but it wasn’t nearly enough to derail the Rams.

Olvera led all scorers with 20 but no other Lion was in double figures. Lopez finished with 8. Cosato joined Hill in doubles with 12 for TC while Der added 7.
