USA Comeback Complete

USA and Mexico clash in the Anaheim Bolts International Cup.

(Anaheim) – No matter the venue when it comes to soccer, USA-Mexico is as intense as you will find in any sport. As witnessed at the Anaheim Arena, the outdoor rivalry has been transferred to the arena soccer as well.

The USA battled back from two goals down in the fourth period to defeat Mexico 7-5 in the Anaheim Bolts International Cup.

The Americans tallied three goals in 3:44 sealed the victory against the Tri-Colores. Antonio Sulton scored two goals in that span with the tying goal coming with 5:41 remaining in the game.

Aaron Susi scored less than two minutes later after goalkeeper Riley Swift made a great outlet pass after a save. Susi finished with a goal and two assists on the night for the United States.

The indoor game is played with five aside, yet early in the game most fans in attendance must have thought eleven were on the field with the game deadlocked at zero after one period.,

Kraig Chiles put the U.S. up 1-0 on a pass from Erick Wunderle. The goal came from a corner set piece in which Wunderle slid the pass over to an open Chiles who fired it past Jose de Jesus Flores Rubio.

Mexico finally took the lead with 4:02 remaining on Miguel Angel Vaca’s power-play goal.

It looked as though the Tri-Colors were going to run away and hide early in the fourth as Efrain Martinez extended the Mexico lead to two after just fourteen seconds in the period.

With neither team scoring for nearly three minutes, Majell Alerado capitalized on a turnover and fired past Rubio to get the Americans within one goal.

Chiles notched his second goal of the night in timely fashion on a pass from Susi to tie the score at four with just ten minutes remaining.

Vaca gave Mexico its last lead of the game with 7:30 remaining.

With the win the USA finished the tournament 2-0 and Mexico fell to 0-1. Both Mexico and Anaheim face each other tomorrow night in the final evening of the tournament.
