Is there another Cogburn out there somewhere in the Southeast or Mid-Valley?

By Joe Torosian

Good Morning!

T-minus-46 until “The Mid Valley Classic”

Jason Schmidt?….I knew it!!

Not to sound Scanlan like, because he always has something to say, but Chad Billingsley in a deal for Cliff Lee? The Scanmeister would need a new medical plan but wouldn’t qualify because of a deal like this…”Sorry your pre-existing hatred for Ned Colletti makes you an unaffordable risk…”

Nervous time for the Dodgers, they only lead the West by eight games…

Former ABA star Marvin “Bad News” Barnes is 57 today…I’m not gonna say what Duane “Bad News” Barker turns in September…but it is only slightly less of what I turn in August…

That Angel winning streak had been getting on my nerves…

Is there a Tommy Cogburn type out there locally? Give me a name East of the 605? West of the 605? South on the 605? Don’t talk to me about potential or talent…the best athletes don’t always make plays…the best football players do…

This is why a prominent local football guy, wishing to remain anonymous, says its too soon to give up on Rosemead… “They have too many football players,” he says. “I’ve been burned by talent and potential before.”…

After seeing Terrell Owens in Buffalo I can’t understand why he’s had so much trouble at his other stops…

I’d say Stephon Marbury is a good risk for the Celtics…

I’ve always enjoyed the morning version of Sports Center because they didn’t do the stupid stuff you see on Good Morning America and the Today Show…at least until they had a cookie eating contest Monday morning….

Speaking of eating contests I didn’t see Andy Villathedevil in any of the eating contests at the Brickyard this weekend…

It Don’t Mean Nothing: Arroyo’s Jim Singiser is 3-3 in season openers against Temple City (“The Mid Valley Classic”)…He’s made the playoffs each season, but he’s only lost once at home. (Okay, counting the playoffs he’s 3-4 against TC)…

Temple City HC Anthony White is undefeated in season openers so far…

Is anyone really interested in Plaxico Burress? I’d much rather have the other guy, what is his name…oh yeah…Michael Vick…

Everyone should play Summer League in Vegas…Golden State Warrior power forward Anthony Randolph, who averaged 7.9 pts per game last season, filled it up for 26 per game this summer…unfortunately, you guessed it, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas…

Yeah, I agree, that’s really getting old…

Santiago, Thropay, Brown, who’s the guy at CO?

Stay thirsty my friends…
