(Glendale)- Los Altos spotted Burroughs a in the first half, and then dominated the second to take a 37-29 victory in the first round of the CIF playoffs at Glendale High School.
Taking the lead early was Indians running back Zander Anding who exploded for 207 yards in the first two quarters and two touchdowns as the Indians built a 22-9 halftime lead. A third score, a 70-yard touchdown run, was called back on a penalty.
From the there the Pacifc League champs tide began to roll back.
What came in its place was a 240-pound bruiser named Justin Fa’aola and a quarterback, Shane Virnala, who suffered every painful moment of last year’s 0-10 season.
The pair team to lead LA to 455 yards of total offense.
Fa’aola rushed for 205 yards on 28 carries and caught two passes for 23 yards. Virnala went 14 of 18 for 224 yards and rushed for 72 himself and two scores. Not only did they put points on the board for the Conquerors, but they also kept Zander Anding off the field.
Anding with only eight second half yards finished with 215 for the night on 19 carries.
