The TEN

(“The Ten” is not a top ten, but ten items worth being included in The TEN)

1.) Detroit’s Justin Verlander became the first pitcher to win the Cy Young and the MVP Awards since Oakland’s Dennis Eckersley in 1992.

2.) The only player on UCLA’s roster who has experienced a victory over USC is Walnut alum Sean Sheller – a sixth year senior. He was a redshirt freshman in 2006 when UCLA upset USC 13-9.

3.) USC has beaten UCLA 11 of the last 12 years.

4.) Maranatha quarterback Andrew Elffers’ 73 yards passing Friday night against San Gabriel was his lowest of the year. His previous low was 125 against South Pasadena on October 7.

5.) Arcadia’s Jake Medel in six games: (Rushing: 88-694 yards, 9 TD.)

6. Milwaukee’s Ryan Braun NL MVP; Dodgers’ Matt Kemp second.

7.) Rich Rodriguez (15-22 in three years at Michigan) hired as the new Head Coach at Arizona.

9.) West Covina’s Josh Best (Rushing: 22-179 yards, 3 TD, 8.14 yards per carry.)

10.) Covina’s Justin Mason has 23 receptions and 11 of them have gone for touchdowns.
