Diamond Ranch Captains March and Advance

Andrew Fischer smart on and off the field; He's headed to Harvard

(Pomona) – Diamond Ranch Coach Roddy Layton obviously knows what he’s doing when he picks his captains for his football team. The four that he selected last year turned out to be really special. All four are going on to distinguished universities.

Andrew Fischer is going to Harvard. Blake Benjamin is joining former Diamond Ranch alum Graham Vickers at the Naval Academy. Jacob Ardron has visited Penn and is now on his official visit at Columbia. Peter “Rocky” Neise has been accepted to Westpoint.

All except Neise will play football at their respective schools. Fischer who played running back, wide receiver and returned kicks for the Panthers will play slot WR at Harvard. Ardron was all CIF at linebacker and Benjamin plays offensive and defensive line.

“Not too many players are attending universities like that and for all to be team captains from one school is pretty cool. It’s special,” Layton said.

Diamond Ranch tied for second with Bonita in the Hacienda League in 2011 and knocked off Bellflower in the first round of the playoffs before falling to Muir.

Also Chris Miller, another standout at DR, is going to Oregon State.

Former Panther Vickers is doing well and is currently starting at Navy.

“I just visited him and his family during the Christmas break. He had his helmet and his jersey from the Navy victory over Army,” Layton added.
