Rosemead Ready for Repeat?

(Rosemead) – It was Rosemead that went 5-0 last year in league on their way to the Mission Valley League crown. It was Rosemead that advanced all the way to the Mid Valley CIF Division championship game before losing to Paraclete. It was Rosemead that lost only three games all of last season including the loss in the championship game. Yet so far this summer everybody is talking about Arroyo in the Mission Valley League.

Because of the number of quality seniors that the Panthers lost and the number of quality players that the Knights have returning, Arroyo has been the consensus favorite.

But if you talk to Rosemead Coach Matt Koffler we shouldn’t hand the MVL trophy to the Knight just yet.

“Look at the size if some of these guys,” Koffler said pointing to a couple of his lineman. “I know nobody has seen anybody like that guy,” Koffler added pointing to Conrado Simpson.

rosemead, show 8-22 013 Simpson, a senior receiver who will also see some time at defensive end, is one of the key players that Koffler is counting on to give the Knights a run.

Running back/linebacker Joey Diaz, tight end Luis Diaz and wide receiver Greg Parham are also back and will figure heavily in the Panther’s plans.

Three weeks before the season opener it’s Arroyo. But on November 13, the Panthers’ final home game, will it be the Mead that’s on top?

We might find out even earlier than that. Rosemead will host Arroyo in the league opener on October 16.
