Keppel Girls Blank SG

By Corey Kwok
(Alhambra) – Alashanee Medina was one bobble of a third strike throw to first away from a perfect game in a dominant 12 strikeout no hit performance for Keppel, who more than supported the effort with an 11-0 romp over San Gabriel. Medina also helped her own cause by going 2 for 2 with a walk and an RBI triple.
Executing off a combination of timely hitting and Matador errors, the Lady Aztecs coasted to a 7-0 lead at the end of two. In the first stanza, a walk parade put Lexi Madrid, Medina, and Vanessa Mendez on board to load the bases before Monique Baca capped a two-out rally on her two RBI single to right. Mendez then capitalized on an ensuing, errant throw after Baca’s hit, which intended to tag her out at third but instead bounced away.
Karen Liang (2 for 3 at bat) capped the next Keppel wave with a two run triple in the second. The Lady Aztecs dealt a four run knockout punch two innings later as five of its first six batters had hits, followed by an RBI walk and bunt-out to make it 11-0.
