(Rosemead)- “I tell them everyday they are going to finish in fourth place,” new Rosemead HC Marc Paramo about what he says to his team when so many others have written the Panthers off in 2012. “I love it, I love the fact that everybody is overlooking us. When these guys were freshmen they only lost two games; Monrovia and Westlake. They beat the BLANK out of Arroyo, South El Monte and El Monte.”
The concern about Mead has never been its defense (as nasty as ever), but its offense. Paramo has junked the old power game in favor of a read option. He’s got an a experienced set of tackles in Nelson Leon and Daniel Camarena, a pair of backs in Alex Zavala and Dominic Salas, and a new starting quarterback in Everado Camacho.
“Let people think what they want to think about us, I don’t care,” Paramo says with a smile. “We’ll be ready.”

Fantastic insight Rebel Dad! Since you did not talk any actual football in your comment I will assume you fit in the 90% of those who comment. By your choice of screen name most would falsely assume you are a passionate fan of your son’s team, but they would be missing the obvious. You have chosen Rebel as your moniker, clearly representative of your affiliation with Pop Warner Football. Such an association can only mean you have no knowledge of the game. Great post Father 40%
Its amazing how many people comment, half of them do not know football, 40% makes comments out of passion, envy ,jealousy ,or just being a fan of the other teams.IN FOOTBALLL YOU DO NOT TALK, YOU FRICKEN PLAY THE GAME. I believe freshmen and shsophmores will help to make run for the next 4 years.
Also the final score/point tally may not be a valid indicator of the prowness or deficiency of Paramo’s defense since many of those points may or may not be attributed to offensive turnovers…no?
To be honest I can’t really say, since personaly, I am so close to the program and partial to the defense he runs so my opinion is biased. There have been years where the defense carried the offense and vice versa so although you may have a valid point, only time will tell.

J since you seem to be quite knowledgable about Mead Football, how do you account for the poor performance of the Rosemead D the past few years. In my opinion, the greatness of Paramo was more a by product of the ball control offense of Koffler than any schemes created by Paramo. Now that he has moved away from that offense I believe Paramo will be exposed.
Arroyo will smash on Rosemead always have always will.
Really? Wow…Since when can you tell how good a player is by how photogenic they are? Interesting.

With all this talent it’s a wonder why Rosemead does not have a league championship squad. Paramo’s comments are really an indictment of Paramo and his staff. If you look at South and El Monte, these are squads whose core were Freshmen and, according to Paramo, were easily handled by the Mead. It is a sign of poor player development. Last add…this defensive genius gave up 92 points to Sem, Em, and Arroyo in 2011. I think the days of fearing the Mead are indeed over.
Say what you will but the look on these guys faces tells me one thing…ZERO CONFIDENCE!!!!

Stick a fork in the Mead they are done!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m sorry but I don’t see how the MVL has 3 teams better than the Mead.
Rosemead’s best years are behind them? How so? While no one cares what a freshmen team did 3 years ago it does give you a precursor of what that team may be capable in years to come. (barring injuries & transfers in or out) That being said the 2-3 prior Frosh teams did fairly well in league, so would’nt you expect that team to be competive, if not excel.
If I’m not mistaken last years squad was very competitve with all their losses being less than 7 pts., and all except for 1, coming in the 4th Qtr. that could’ve gone either way. So you have a team that came (a combined) 13 points short from being 9-1 but instead went 5-5. Yea it’s all coulda, shoulda, woulda but best believe the Mead is far from being done.

Nice quote Paramo way to wake up the MVL. Nobody cares what those kids did three years ago. It’s going to be a long season if that’s the best you can do to motivate your players. Rosemeads best years are behind them. Fear’nt the Mead.
Gotta love high school football!!
