Titans Push Aside Eagle Rock

(Eagle Rock) – San Marino established the run gaining 381 yards compared to 92 for Eagle Rock in a season opening 30-14 victory.
Ryan Wood led the ground assault for San Marino, carrying the ball 24 times for 208 yards and three TDs. Titan quarterback Matt Wofford (5/11, 52 yards) recovered three muffed snaps and tallied 62 yards on 11 keepers with four quality scrambles for first downs of over 10 yards.
The Eagles struck first about midway through the opening stanza when Paul Gandara trucked in a short dumpoff from Joe Meguan for an 83 yard score.
San Marino marched 78 yards over 9 plays and 3 minutes on its ensuing possession which was capped by a 5 yard charge into paydirt from Wood to tie it up.

Then in the second, SM would lead for good on a go-ahead 24 yard field goal from Wofford to make it 10-7 favoring the Titans, who rounded out its scoring volley with Wood sprinting in from 12 yards out on a third and 11 in the fourth for his second and third rushing touchdowns.

The Titans then forced the Eagles into a three-and-out, only to fumble it away on play one. Eagle Rock capitalized just two plays later when Adnan Gonzalez caught a 19 yard sling from Meguan before dashing into the endzone from 37 out to round out all scoring.

Titan bruiser Nick Gott opened up on runs of 12 and 19, totaled 56 over 10 hauls, and proved difficult for Eagle Rock to lock down on all night. Gott also surfaced with two sacks on the Eagles’ final possession.
