Kick it!

Should I go out on a limb right now and say that La Mirada beats Bishop Amat on Friday? Do I?…Give me a few hundred words to think about it.

First Add Covina: Guess I was wrong about C-Town putting points on the board.

Oh, I’ve always been a Kevon Seymour fan.

Sshh…Sshh! Rumor has it Muir is making an argument to be put into the Rio Hondo League when Blair officially bites the dust or falls on its sword.

Humboldt might be a little far, but in a couple of weeks APU has its home opener against Dixie State. That’s when you need to go to Citrus to see the Cougars Terrell Watson. Power, speed, balance…Watson is fun to watch.

Is it too early to say we were right about not having Dominguez in the Southeast Top 10?

I told you Whittier Christian was good…The offense is only going to get better and the defense is special…Cantwell was no chump. Good footbal there.

The last time Temple City started a season by being shutout twice was in 1958. The Rams lost to Chino 6-0 and then to San Gabriel 19-0. Bill Davis was the HC and they finished the season 3-6

“I’m telling you we’re going to be alright, just wait,” said a Temple City assistant to me on Sunday afternoon.

Watch Bryan Luevano run for El Monte and you may think of former Monrovia standout Christian Blanco. The M-Town back might have had a little more speed, but they share the same instincts when running the ball.

No one will agree with this, but losing its opener might be the best thing that happens to Monrovia this season prior to a third straight Mid-Valley Division title.

NorRock has tendered 110 points in two games.

And we found this out; we know about Elijah Penny, we are currently enjoying Rashaad Penny, and word is a third Penny brother is only a year or so away from the Lancers backfield.

Since it is a time for gloating…We said that Valley Christian’s Patrick Avila was the quarterback nobody was talking about…Six touchdown passes later (And a good friend named Brandon Bynum)…People know who he is. The Crusaders will win at Bishop Diego on Saturday.

I knew Cal didn’t have anything.

Totally guilty. All off season not only was I driving the South Pasadena Tigers bus, more than that I was the one with the foot on the accelerator. However, when I heard Joey Harmon had transferred out I jumped ship.

Against San Gabriel the new SP quarterback David Madrid looked good, and the Tigers carried some attitude especially along the offensive front. One stretch, inside the San Gabriel 10, after going down field from every angle imaginable, HC Martin Konrad had his offensive line bludgeon the Matadors with three straight quarterback sneaks.

I don’t know if Konrad saw something scheme wise he thought he could exploit, or if he was just flexing muscle at a point in the game where SG was beginning to look tired.

By the way Los Altos won again and on a night where its quarterback didn’t have the greatest of games.

Final Add Los Altos Win: They didn’t beat the Sisters of Mercy or West El Monte Poly, no they were on the road against an explosive Salesian team featuring Jihad Vercher.

After two games this season Bassett has a 1-1 record and has scored 35 points. In 2011 the Olympians scored a total of 90 points for the entire season. They were shutout four times. A versatile Nicolas Colmenero is running things at quarterback for Hector Spathias’ squad.

For a team having trouble stopping the run, Covina is not who El Monte wants to see next.

Minor Detail: It doesn’t matter when the final score was 35-10 in favor of Paraclete, but the latest word on the Spirits Christian Ruiz’ interception/fumble/strip against Burroughs last Friday night is: Strip. A reporter from another publication told us that it was a catch and Ruiz stripped the Indians receiver of the ball. Strip in this case equals fumble.

William Wang’s night was impressive for Crescenta Valley against Santa Paula, but it was the Falcons defense that held the Cardinals to just 21 after they scored 60 the week before against Hueneme.

Last Add Muir: Did you know its enrollment is smaller than Pasadena Mashall’s?

CV One More Time: Falcons play San Marino this week…Should be a good one.

…Yes.

The Dude abides…
