Fanview Lite: September 7, 2012

It’s okay here, but on defense there better not be any space between Arroyo’s Andre Kerkhoff (#2) and James Rivera (#51) against La Puente tonight.

Kick it!

How come no one is talking about Monrovia-Arcadia ths time around?

Who needs a win more Mike McFarland or Joe Kanach?

I dreamed I was walking through a church foyer the other night and on the wall was a flat screen television. Stopping, next to people I didn’t know, I saw the final score of the USC-Syracuse game. Orange 16 Trojans 3

True, really did have the dream. Now I’m covered if it happens. If it doesn’t, not my problem…

Maranatha needs a win tonight.

Watching the NFL opener on Wednesday I kept waiting for Al Michaels to say “This week’s game officials are brought to you by the Montview League.”

If the ball is inside a yard from the first down marker, shouldn’t a head coach’s request for a measurement be honored?

Note to South Pasadena: Don’t blow all your good will by struggling against Hoover tonight.

We know it’s okay to spike the ball from under center to stop the clock, but did you know if the ball is spiked from the shotgun position to stop the clock that’s considered intentional grounding?

I didn’t, but I do now.

The difference between El Monte through the ages and El Monte now? The Lions believe they can win the close game…more importantly they believe they can win even after something disastrous happens.

I’m done with Ralphs.

It’s going to be a long year at Bosco Tech.

The people in Cleveland are extremely dim on several fronts when it comes to sport. First LeBron James left, get over it. Second to say Art Modell, who recently died at the age of 87, stole the city’s soul when he moved the Browns to Baltimore is insane.

First off they made Modell’s team play in a rat trap stadium for years and when they wouldn’t do anything to change the equation he left for Baltimore. It was better for his business. Just like LeBron James moving to Miami was better for his business. They just assumed, Modell would tolerate terrible plumbing and continual decay.

I appreciate Modell on another level…As a Rams fan I was forced and still am forced to watch the St. Louis Rams…Same colors, same history, same tradition that was ninety-five percent formed in Los Angeles.

Modell, when he moved to Baltimore, left Cleveland the “Browns” name, left the colors, left the history…So when the city cleaned up its act and the NFL returned they would/could have their traditions back.

For the ungrateful in the Mistake by the Lake, I pray ten more years of misery for its football fans…I pray the brink of a Super Bowl and another Ernest Byner moment…Take that Blue State!

La Mirada hosting Bishop Amat tonight is special, its big, but its hardly fate of the world in terms of the rest of the 2012 season.

Bigger deal? Bonita at La Serna and El Rancho at Bell Gardens…I also think how Downey deals with Schurr will tell us a lot.

Note to Duane Barker: We are going to need expanded memory/server/gizmos if Mt. View beats Sierra Vista tonight.

Also keep an eye on La Salle at Village Christian. I’m coming to the conclusion that the three hundred and fifty people who kept saying the Lancers would be a disaster…were wrong.

Does anyone remember the old lights at Moor Field in Alhambra? Well the lights at Fullerton High School are so bad the officials needed flashlights to see the game.

(Okay, that might not have been funny…but all the jokes can’t be good, you have to expect that once in a while.)

Call it a hunch…but something tells me San Dimas will be looking for a little payback against San Gabriel tonight…I can’t imagine why, but I have a feeling.

Speaking of San Gabriel; crickets. That’s all we heard on the boards after the Matadors fell to South Pasadena, 49-40, last week. A year ago at this time bloggers were asking for the head of Jude Oliva on a silver platter.

He sucks, he’s no good, he’s incompetent, he’s this, he’s that, he howls at the moon…We heard Oliva was everything but a good football coach at the start of 2011.

At the start of the 2012? Crickets.

I wonder what happened in the in-between?

Note to La Mirada Guy: How about some special parking for Mid Valley Sports? How about a hospitality room?

We can’t root for teams, but we can root for players. I’m a Kevin Amezquita fan. I’ll tell you why…I just think as the years have rolled on people have forgotten that Gladstone has played some really good football under Albert Sanchez…G-Stone, in its best years, always seemed to be the program drawing the short straw when it came to the post-season. Amezquita has a bravado to him and it makes you want to see something good happen for the Family Stone.

On the other hand…if I’m Amezquita, I’d keep an eye out for Baldwin Park’s Dominic Hilo, he doesn’t care about something good happening for G-Stone.

Does anybody know what the food specialty is up in Humbolt? I understand its pretty easy procure a bowl…but I prefer my bowl to contain soup, stew, or salad.

Does anyone remember what Alhambra’s Anthony Brown did to Temple City in 2005? 13 carries for 127 yards and a touchdown as a sophomore.

If Arroyo gets by La Puente tonight, keep them in the discussion for another Mission Valley League title.

The Dude abides…
