San Bernardino Valley 35 Glendale 0

Sophomore linebacker Alvis Mahome posted three and a half sacks and also captured a pick six for SBVC, which surrendered just 54 total yards the entire game (16 passing and 38 rushing) and blanked host Glendale 35-0 at Sartoris Field.

Glendale is now 1-1 after the setback and looks to rebound next Saturday at San Diego Mesa. SG Matador Issac Valdez, who took over signal calling duties late for the Vaqueros in his first dispatch into action, is in the short rotation to start at quarterback for this upcoming road game.
Citrus 29 Moorpark 16

Isaiah Kepley’s dual skills served Citrus well as the sophomore kicker and wide receiver out of Victor Valley High booted three field goals and caught a 10-yard touchdown pass in the fourth quarter that put away Moorpark and helped the Owls improve to 2-0 with a 29-16 road victory Saturday afternoon.

Citrus split quarterback duties between freshman Bernard Porter and Bishop Amat grad Tyler Pruszynski as both combined for 326 yards.
Two familiar area standouts played a big role amidst it as JoJo Curiel (Diamond Ranch) led all receivers with six catches for 92 yards. Michael Ball (Rowland) followed next with eight receptions for 60 yards.

Orange Coast 27 Pasadena City College 10
The Lancers were cited for 15 infractions totaling 169 yards of deductions before falling 27-10 in its home opener against Orange Coast College on Saturday night.
OCC’s smothering pass-rush defense proved another whammy against the Lancers who started Zeek Julien at quarterback instead of Justin Posthuma, who was sidelined with an undisclosed injury. Julien was hurried six times and sacked twice.

PCC however made trends in its rushing game, racking up 167 yards. Zander Anding (Burroughs) had 20 carries for 63 yards.
Defensively, PCC highlighted itself with Deion Steppes (West Covina) blocking a field goal and M-Town’s Dean Bisterfeldt posting an unassisted sack.
Mt. SAC 34 Bakersfield 14

Nick Montana issued a pick six at Bakersfield’s 21-yard line in the first quarter, but the second-ranked Mounties responded strongly and carried a 20-7 lead into halftime before receiving a trememdous defensive effort to pave its way to a 34-14 win over the Renegades.

Diamond Ranch’s Elisha Henley led the entire Mountie tackling corps in a key first quarter stop that denied Bakersfield a two touchdown lead and stopped the Renegades on four plays inside the 5-yard line.

Mt. SAC marched 99 yards to paydirt on its ensuing possession which culminated on a one-yard Jamal Overton touchdown run to tie the score 7-7. Overton, from Pomona High, carried the ball 16 times for 95 yards and two scores.
