Mid Valley JUCO Wire… Week 2

Up to date scores and stats from nearby Junior Colleges and the locally produced talent who are making an impact.

 Mt. Sac 33                  Golden West  14                    (Sept. 12, 2009 at Golden West)

 Bryce McBride (Bishop Amat) carried the ball five times for 22-yards and a touchdown, 3 kick returns for 69-yards and one catch for 11 yards.  Ahmere Owens (Muir) added five catches for 59-yards.  Jesse Canada (Monrovia) added another touchdown to his season totals to go along with four catches for 52-yards.  Richard Parham (South Hills) got in to the mix with three catches for 25-yards.

 On defense, Austin Daniels (Muir) had two tackles.

 Golden West:  South El Monte alum Tommy Cogburn, now playing defensive back, had six tackles.

 Citrus 14                     L.A. Harbor 47                       (Sept. 12, 2009 at Wilmington, CA)

 Isaac Tucker (West Covina) led the locals with six carries for 35-yards, three catches for 10-yards and two kick returns for 24-yards.  Nico Barbone (San Dimas) had one carry for one yard and a touchdown.  Tim Gilmore (H.H. Wilson) had three carries for 33-yards and two kick returns for 41-yards.  Brandon Stansell (Rowland ) had a big day returning kicks with five for 159-yards.  Stansell also a one catch for nine yards.

 On defense Bronze Withem (San Dimas) had four tackles, Fernando Noriega (El Monte) had four and Xavier Tucker (West Covina) had two.

 Fullerton 37                L.A. Pierce 21                   (Sept. 12, 2009 at Woodland Hills, CA)  

 Joe Morales (South El Monte) led the way on defense with seven tackles, Alex Valdez (Schurr) had three and Raul Pintado (Schurr), Filipo Tuala (South El Monte) and David Slover (South Hills) each had two.

 On what a bummer note:  After a break out performance last week, Fullerton lost Tra Sumler (Rosemead) for the season to a broken ankle.  Sumler will receive a medical grey shirt and not lose the year of eligibility.  Get well soon Tra!

 Glendale 35                ELAC 26                                       (Sept. 12, 2009 at ELAC) 

 Glendale: Willie Youngblood (Muir) rushed for 69-yards on 14 carries and had one catch for 17-yards.

 ELAC:  Pedro Velasquez (El Monte) completed eight of 24 for 149-yards, two touchdowns and one interception.  Manny Rodriguez (San Gabriel) had two carries for seven yards. 

 On defense, Norm Ceja (Arroyo) had six tackles and Mitchell Garner (Muir) had two.

 PCC  53          Compton 0                                          (Sept. 12, 2009 at Pasadena, CA)

 Reuben Thomas (Muir) had a stellar day leading Pasadena to the blow out win over Compton. Thomas carried the ball eight times for 41-yards and a touchdown, caught four balls for 105-yards and two touchdowns and even passed the ball four times completing one for 13-yards.

 Devin Fuller (Blair) had two carries for 15-yards and two catches for 21-yards.  Williams Do (Temple City) had one carry for two yards and a touchdown.  Nick Ponce (Arcadia) completed 17 of 23 passes for 263-yards and four touchdowns.
