MVS Collegiate Top Ten…Plus

1.  Alabama –   Beat Florida International handily but with North Texas coming up, the top spot may be in jeopardy.  Need to drop 50-60 on the Mean Green to stay on top.

2.  USC –         In the words of Keith Jackson…”Whoa Nelly”.  Escaped from the “Horse Shoe” with a W but struggled to get it.  McKnight, Barkley impressive, offensive line manhandled until final drive.

 3.  Texas –        Took care of business against Wyoming.  Should solidify spot with win over Texas Tech this Saturday.

 4.  Florida –      Yeah Urban, we know.  You dropped 56 on a team you should have dropped 56 on.  How about playing a top 20 team before October?

 5.  Ole Miss –   Idle

 6.  BYU –         Went down to the bayou and dropped 54 on Tulane.  Lee Aguirre (South El Monte) gets some playing time and a tackle.  Get some home cooking and Florida State this Saturday.  Might be hard to move up with FSU’s 0-2 record.

 7.  Cal –           Back to back 50+ point games have the Golden Bears turning some heads. No one will get whiplash however as the last one was against Eastern Washington.

 8.  Penn St.-     Not overly impressive with a 28-7 win over Syracuse in Happy Valley.  Need to thoroughly drub weaker opponents to have any chance of moving up.

9.  Ohio St. –  Tough to move them out of the top ten after a decent showing against USC.

 10.  Cincy.-      Annihilated Southwest Missouri State 70-3.  Now that’s how you take care of business against an inferior opponent.  Armon Binns (Pasadena) four catches for 77-yards.  Get another test this Saturday against Oregon State.  Bearcats may be on the move!

Plus others in the top 25 recognized for local talent:

Oregon State- Cruised down to UNLV for the weekend and came away with a 23-21 win.  Lance Mitchell (Muir) picks up and interception and three more tackles.
