3.) Jerry Sandusky sentenced to no less than 30 years.

4.) On this date in 1970 Rosemead beat El Monte 30-7. The Panthers were led to the Pacific League victory by running back Vince Montenegro’s two touchdown runs, including one of 51-yards.

5.) On this date in 1916 Babe Ruth held the Brooklyn Dodgers to six hits over 14 innings as the Boston Red Sox won Game Two of the World Series 2-1.

6.) Former Detroit Lions defensive tackle and actor Alex Karras, 77, near death due to kidney failure.

7.) La Mirada quarterback Gerry Myres has thrown 14 touchdown passes and one interception.

8.) New England Patriots running back Kevin Faulk formally retires today after playing 13 seasons. Faulk rushed for 3,607 yards for 16 touchdowns, caught 431 passes for 15 touchdowns, 5.041 punt return yards, and 4,098 kick off return yards. Faulk was a second round pick out of LSU in 1999.
