
NorRock’s Rashaad Penny scored two touchdowns, to run his season total up to 33, in the Lancers 49-14 victory over Burbank on Friday night.

(Burbank)- Visiting Norwalk blasted host Burbank early, with four first quarter touchdowns, in the CIF Southeast Division playoff opener on Friday night.
The Lancers built an early 28-0 advantage and Bulldog efforts to get back in the contest fell way short.
With 8:37 to play in the first quarter Norwalk’s Rashaad Penny scored on a 5-yard run to give his team a 6-0 lead after the point after attempt was botched.
Moments later Burbank gave the ball back via fumble and 18 seconds after scoring their first touchdown the Lancers scored a second on Matthew Ortega’s 4-yard run. Penny provided the deuce and it was a 14-0 contest.
Two minutes later Bryan Sullivan got into the act with a 33-yard run, another errant snap sabotaged the point after and it was 20-0.
Still in the first quarter, after another Bulldogs turnover, Penny scored his 33rd touchdown of the season, Sullivan bulled his way in on the two-point attempt, and it was 28-0 visitors.
The run on the Bank continued the agony in the second quarter when Malcom McAllister’s 10-yard run mad the score 35-0
Burbank was able to light scoreboad with 1:16 to play before the break when Ryan Meredith hit Teddy Arlington on an 18-yard lob pass to the end zone. The two-point attempt failed and it was 35-6 at halftime.
The Bulldogs would close the gap a bit more to open the third when Meredith directed them downfield to set up an Arlington touchdown run from 4-yards through the Lancers massive defensive line. Meredith to Francis Nicks provides the deuce and its 35-14.
Six minutes later Norwalk’s Jacquise Hooper went in from 2-yards and with point after the score was 42-14
In the fourth Ortega closed out the scoring with a short run to make it 49-14.
Burbank finishes the season with a 7-4 record, but Norwalk presses on. The Lancers are now 8-2 and go home to face Downey in the second round.
