(Lancaster)- Paraclete’s Tyler Carvalho threw two touchdown passes to pace the Spirits to a 49-7 victory over visiting Temple City in the first round of the CIF Mid-Valley Division playoffs.
The victory improved Paraclete to 10-1 and the Alpha League champs will host El Monte next Friday night. The Rams finish their season at 5-6.
Carvalho connected with Triston Brown on a 27-yard scoring pass with 7:11 to play in the first quarter. Early in the second Chris Campbell turned a Carvalho pass into a 20-yard score.
In between that Melquise Stoval scored on a 52-yard run late in the first quarter as Paraclete built a 21-0 lead.
With 2:27 to play before the break TC picked up its lone score when Nasir Banihani went 20-yards to Rams utility man Anthony Valencia to make it 21-7
The Spirits did the rest of their scoring in the third quarter.
Brown scored on 21-yard run, Antyone Hutcherson added a 4-yard run, before Campbell scored again from 5-yards.
Late in the quarter Paraclete back up quarterback Brett Nelson went 55-yard to Stovall.
