1.) La Serna junior-to-be RB Bryce Oliver rushed for 373 yards and 5 touchdowns on 64 carries last season.

2.) Hitting coach Mark McGwire, Yasiel Puig and Ronald Bellisario for the Dodgers and Ian Kennedy, manager Kirk Gibson and coach Turner Ward for Arizona were ejected in brawl and then a hit batter in Los Angeles’ 5-3 victory last night.

3.) On this day in 1880 Lee Richmond pitched the first-ever perfect game for the Worchester Rugby Legs in a 1-0 over the Cleveland Blues.

4.) On this day in 1939 the National Baseball Hall of Fame was dedicated and opened. 25 players were in attendance, including the original class including: Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, Walter Johnson and Cy Young.

5.) On this day in 1997 interleague play began in the MLB. Previously teams from the American and National League’s didn’t meet until the World Series.

6.) On this day in 2002 the Los Angeles Lakers won their third straight NBA championship (defeating the New Jersey Nets). Shaquille O’Neal was awarded the Finals MVP.

7.) Jozy Altidore has a goal in the last two U.S. World Cup qualifying matches. The red, white and blue beat Panama 2-0 yesterday in Seattle, WA and now sit a top their qualifying group.

8.) San Gabriel 1B Antonio Ruiz was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 40th round.

9.) Bonita HS alumni and Azusa Pacific University’s 2B Ryan Henley was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays 13 picks later.

10.) Happy Birthday to Hideki Matsui and Dallas Clark.
