Minnesota on the second day of battle at Gettysburg was ordered by General Winfield Scott Hancock to advance to plug the line after another General’s (Dan Sickles) blunder. 262 men entered the battle that day, 215 were either killed or wounded…The 47 soldiers still active were in the Union center on the third day of fighting (“Pickett’s Charge”) and another 30 went down as casualties.
