Mid-Valley Division

San Dimas (8-4) at Arroyo (11-1)

Last Meeting: 11-19-2010: CIF Playoffs First Round: San Dimas 21-14

San Dimas has absolutely annihilated the opposition over the last eight weeks. Nobody has come close to touching the Saints. Arroyo has won 11 straight but did have a few close calls especially over the last four games. The key for Arroyo will be stopping the Saints’ running game. Nobody has been able to lately so it will definitely be a challenge. Arroyo can score and might be able to stay with San Dimas for awhile, but in the end San Dimas just has too much. The Wing Z can be overpowering. Saints march on to Finals.

Monrovia (11-1) at Paraclete (8-4) at Antelope Valley College

Last Meeting: 11-30-2012: CIF Mid-Valley Division Final: Monrovia 23-7

Biggest challenge for Monrovia so far. The Spirits are battle tested, have played a tough schedule and are at home. Quarterback Brett Nelson went out with an injury last week but should return. Paraclete can run the ball with Melquise Stovall to balance out the attack. That being said the Wildcats are loaded. They can run, pass, play special teams and defend. It’s hard to find a weak link in the M-Town arsenal. Nobody to date has been able to stop Kurt Scoby. It’s hard to to believe that Paraclete can. Scoby and the rest will be too much. Cats advance.

Monrovia 31 Paraclete 21

Southeast Division

Norwalk (12-0) at Muir (11-1)

Records wise these are the two best teams in Southeast Division, although La Serna and Burbank might have something to say about that. The Lancers and the Mustangs have only one loss all season combined. There’s no secret to what Norwalk does. The Lancers will run Rashaad Penny and run him some more. The question is can Muir stop it? The Stangs did a good job last week on Los Altos when it appeared the Conquerors had the bigger, more physical front lines. Muir is famous for its speed and athleticism. Dejon Williams, who was out last week due to a suspension, is back and ready to go. He can kill you at quarterback or defensively in the secondary. Muir will score but they haven’t faced a team as physical as Norwalk. The Lancers should be able to pound it. Also controlling the clock keeps Muir off the field. Norwalk gets it done.

Norwalk 31 Muir 28

Burbank (10-2) at La Serna (10-2) at California

The La Serna Lancers have answered every question put to them so far. They played a brutal non league schedule and competed in every game. La Serna then blew out everybody in the Del Rio League and brushed aside playoff opponents Burroughs and Diamond Bar with ease. Frankie Palmer, Bryce Oliver, Matthew Rosales and company have taken care of business. Burbank has James “Boobie” Williams and several other weapons on offense. The Bulldogs have outscored their two playoff opponents 91-14. But La Serna isn’t your standard playoff opponent. This is a team that is trying to advance to the Finals for the third straight year. They’ll be there again. Lancers move on.

La Serna 35 Burbank 21

Northwest Division

Oak Park (11-1) at El Segundo (9-3)

Last Meeting: 9-27-13: Oak Park 49-35

Oak Park is the king of the Northwest right now. El Segundo is looking to take them down. It’s a big undertaking. Oak Park racked up 49 the last time these two met. There’s no reason to believe the Eagles won’t roll again. El Segundo has victories over Santa Paula and Carpenteria but Oak Park is a different animal. Oak Park pounds its way into the Finals.

Oak Park 45 El Segundo 28

Nordhoff (11-1) at Bishop Diego (10-2) at Santa Barbara City College

Last Meeting: 11-1-13: Nordhoff 20-17

Maybe the best match up of the weekend. These two Tri-Valley powers just love to get after it. Only three points separated the two the last time they played at the beginning of this month. It’s a toss up really. Nordhoff plays better defense while Bishop Diego might be a little more explosive offensively. Nordhoff lost to Oak Park 23-3 while Bishop Diego fell to the Eagles 42-28. It should come down to field goal in the fourth quarter. The Rangers kick it through.

Nordhoff 24 Bishop Diego 21
