Good Afternoon!

Was it wrong of me when all the power went out in the neighborhood last night to say to my daughters; “You know, this is what the aliens do before they attack”? (good times)

I’ve learned my lesson, gotta go with the Mid Valley Karma, West Covina beats Rowland this Friday night.

Here’s hoping Denver’s Kyle Orton has a big game on Sunday.

Look for Arroyo running back Mike Vasquez to be the Knights first 1,000-yard back since Raul Ramirez ground out a grand in 2003. Interesting thing about Ramirez came in 2004 when he rushed for only 913-yards, but 20 touchdowns. Surprisingly Arroyo went to the semifinals that season and finished 12-1.

Have you noticed a growing anti-Tim Tebow movement?

Didn’t the Clippers think they were going to be getting 18-points and 16-boards all the time from center Chris Kaman when they inked him to the big contract a few years back?

Still the Clips hung tough and the Lakers only looked like they were going to get better.

Derek Fisher should have retired at the end of last season though…

I don’t want to keep playing the same record because I’m going to keep hearing about how bad the Montview is but Azusa is 17-3 over the last two seasons. Joe Scherf’s team is 10-0 in league, and the good news for Aztec aficionados? Wide receiver Abraham Ochoa (27-catches 395-yards 5 tds) is only a junior.

Since it’s a must have game, shouldn’t we go with USC on the road against Oregon? If it was week two, or week four, I might lean towards the Ducks…but the season has reached crunch time and unless it’s Texas in January of 2006 (and some instant replay gifts)…The Trojans under Pete Carroll never lose the big ones this time of year.

On this date in 1988 Temple City overcame four first half touchdowns by South Pasadena’s Wishon Lee for a 34-26 victory. Lee scored on runs of 80 and 64-yards, took a pass 58-yards to paydirt, and returned a fumble 96-yards to the house as the Tigers put the fear of God into the Rams before folding in the second half. TC got 185-yards from Charles Bayer on 37-carries and quarterback Ken Mushinski completed 14 of 19 for 179-yards and two scores.

On the same night at Bergstrom Stadium Arroyo’s Darren MacLellan had another huge game. The Knights running back rushed for 176-yards and five touchdowns in a 55-0 victory over Mountain View.

And in Burbank, Burroughs quarterback Marcos Arciprespe passed for 254-yards and a touchdown as the Indians blasted visiting Alhambra 50-6 in Foothill League action.

Lastly on this date in 1994 Marc Paramo rushed for 122-yards on 28 carries in leading Rosemead to a 19-6 victory over Cerritos…Monrovia got hundred yard games out of Mike Waters (123-yards) and George Aikens (112-yards) in a 43-24 victory over South Pasadena. Aiken returned the opening kick-off 90-yards for the first score…Temple City beat Blair 21-14 thanks to Brian Betts 119-yards on 22-carries. The Vikings did get 101-yards out of Kris Jolley, who scored on a 42-yard run in the first quarter.

We’ve had a great response from down at The Ranch, but I have a question for the Dons faithful: Being a proud program, with a great history, can you (in light of how this decade has gone) be satisfied with a winning season? A playoff win? What will get you and the ER community jazzed again?

The Ranch’s last winning season came in 2004… Its only beaten Santa Fe (this week’s opponent) twice this decade (the last time in 2007 on Marcus Aldecoa’s TD), and hasn’t had a playoff win since 2001 when they beat St. Bernard, 24-23.

Playoffs are on the line, the Fate of the World is at hand, but how different is the 2009 edition of Rosemead at South El Monte than in 2005?

Stay thirsty my friends…
