East Again! 24-13

Hall of Fame Game(West Covina) – The East took the lead for the first time in the third quarter and then had to rally again to beat the West 24-13 Friday night in the 35th Annual Hall of Fame Game at West Covina High School.

Michael Gonzalez of Bishop Amat made the biggest play of the game intercepting a Charles Ontiveros pass and returning it 60 yards for a touchdown to give the East its first lead at 10-7 with 7:42 left in the third quarter. The West answered quickly on a 62 yard bomb from Arroyo’s Nathan Coto to Jeremy Franco of Gabrielino to jump back in front. But the East closed it out with a 20-yard touchown pass from Frankie Palmer (La Serna) to Chino’s Malik Demby late in the third and a six-yard TD romp in the fourth by Bonita’s Jake Payton.

The victory didn’t come easy but it was the seventh straight win for the East in the Hall of Fame game.
