KISS Fall to Thunder

LA KISSThe LA KISS (3-13) fell to the Portland Thunder (5-11) 44-31 Saturday night at the Moda Center in Portland in Week 18 of the 2014 AFL season.

The Thunder struck first on a 2-yard rush by Darron Thomas (kick by Ramirez is good). A few possessions later, Portland quarterback Kyle Rowley connected with Jamar Howard on an 11-yard pass (failed kick). The Thunder took an early lead 16-0 (7:04). However, Los Angeles was able to put some points on the board before the end of the quarter on a 5-yard pass from Garcia to Radway (kick by Spencer is good).

 

A completed pass from Rowley to McNeil for the touchdown would open up the second quarter (kick is good). Then, on back-to-back touchdowns, LA KISS was back in the game. The first score came on a 20-yard pass from Garcia to Morgan and the second, Garcia connected with Goodson on a 10-yard pass. Both Spencer’s kicks were good. With just 51 seconds left in the half Ramirez puts in a 29-yard field goal to finish out the quarter (21-23) Thunder lead.

 

An 18-yard field goal by Spencer was the only score in the third quarter. But Portland came out firing in the fourth with three consecutive touchdowns. First, Garcia was sacked for a loss of 5-yards and Bryce Peila recovered a forced fumble for a touchdown (12:17). The second score came on a 22-yard pass from Rowley to McNeil (24-37) and the third, another connection from Rowley to McNeil. Ramirez’s kicks are good putting the score at 24-44 (1:54) left in the game. But the KISS were not going down without a fight. Morgan pulled down a 46-yard touchdown pass from Garcia (kick is good), bringing the final score to 31-44 (00:39).
